The first time I went to Whiskey Saigon was on a sunday and the very last night it was open. The following week they started major renovations which eventually reopened as Joe. I'll always have the memory of that one night I got to party at WS.

I agree they failed but they failed because they could not develop any of them into a reliable source of income - not because they were successful and it still didn't add up. It came down to not having the right people and the right relationships in place.

I only went once or twice, and quite honestly, I never really understood it. I don't really know how else to describe it, but it just seemed like I never knew who the place was trying to appeal to.
I wish boa had had a liquor license. I think it would have done quite well. |

Successful super-clubs like Guv aside, I'd love to see someone step up and open up a place like Industry again, but that's more wishful thinking than anything else. Combination of just the right capacity, simple yet highly functional layout, absolutely killer soundsystem and bookings that for the better part emphasised the most skilled and forward thinking aspects of the dance music community. Most clubs these days (hell, on most days) are too caught up with flying in the flavour of the moment and hoping each night somehow sticks, rather than building loyalty based on long-term vision. marketing - whether 50 capacity or 5,000, the best clubs don't follow trends, they create them.
