Eh? What does Seven Cities have to do with Odyssey To Anyoona? I don't see much in common with the two except for the ethnic style chant which aren't too similar either. If by using some chants in a track is ripping off something else with chants, then loads of tracks from the mid 90s should be considered ripoffs of each other.

If anything, Solarstone should be blamed for never giving credits to any source material, whether they (or he now) have got permission to use it or not. The chant in Seven Cities is taken from Adiemus - Tintinnabulum which came out a few years after Odyssey To Anyoona.

I don't know too.
Sounds more similar to Humate - Love Stimulation if you ask me

Funny, I didn't know he was using Papillon too.

I saw he put Funnelweb in his top10 a bit back there. Glad to see Union Jack getting some support :)

I'll probably get that 8 ball remake when the price goes down. Sounded good. Always good to see good prog still being made!

I can actually hear similarities to both Love Stimulation and Seven Cities, myself.

I'd just like to say I totally called a classic prog/trance revival a month or so back, and this is surely more evidence of it.

^^^ heres hoping

I definitely think that the apparent "change" in recent Sasha live sets is no coincidence (not using Live)

When he started with Live he said he was gonna use individual parts of tracks that producers would send to him - and mix them together.

Nowadays it just seems that he is using Live to mix track into track, and some ping-pong delay

I think it's a bit early to call it a revival since what we've heared so far are only little. Sasha have on many occations played Xpander for instance in his sets. But the overwhelming majority of the old prog trance djs still play other stuff in their sets.
It takes more than 1-2 track per sets.

I'm not talking about trance and prog classics but a more classic melodic prog and trance style. Sasha may not have played too many classics in Melbourne, but by all accounts he's ditching the tech and started to get trancier and more melodic.
palm
so is there a recording and a tracklist avaliable?

I'd hope so, but I'm doubtful how long that would last. Although I still disagree with the people who think he will not play the style because of his trendsetting 'people want to hear something different' attitude (gimme a break, Sasha has been a hypocrite since day 1), I think that the next genre he takes on will be more along the lines of the tempo he's been playing the past 4 years or so.

I think it's a good thing he hasn't been another Lawler/Loco Dice, playing tribally terrace stuff as there are already plenty of guys doing that already.

No.

It's not Jam & Spoon's original but a prog remake, 8 Ball - Oydyssey To Anyoona Sasha's been playing recently. Released on Used And Abused. I still laugh when i see the title of the remake featuring an additional "y".

Well done, I'm a bit surprised many don't know the classic and then few recognise it's a remix.
The club rhythm isn't at the original one. Can we speak of a classic if the remix is released less then a month ago? (According to Beatport)
The original would have been great too. Mark forever..

Wouldn't it be amazing when some DJ would throw in Stella's Cry, very groovy when the piano and beat comes in @ 2:25 :)
