Probably because he's a great DJ. Never seen him live, but plenty of mixes and his astonishingly good Berghain 02 cd should be testament enough to his talent.
And it seems he was on the map last year, number 11 in RA's 2008 poll. |

marcel dettman is a fantastic, fantastic dj
but this list suffers from the same populist maladies as every other dj list |

iirc, you were questioning his abilities a few months back... ?
i've see him play, i agree he's great, i just didn't realize he was this popular. |

Raresh is still my favourite Dj about, only memorable set I heard this year - YET AGAIN!

| It says in the RA description that Raresh doesn't release sets, but do you have a link to one that might have leaked, perhaps? |

Definitely, best DJ that I saw this year by a long way, great to see someone making their name as a DJ solely on their record-playing as opposed to any tracks they've released (apart from Dry Tool). |
