just listened to the leak and wrote a mini-review in the process;
Disc 1:
Suddenly - too long, i liked it as a short pop song but it outstays its welcome here.
The Emergency - absolute crap. stop following trends, BT. you're better than that.
Every Other Way - lovely romantic song.
The Light In Thigs - nice dance number. could've been more dynamic but kept simple.
Rose Of Jericho- solid dance song.
Forget Me - on second listen this one isn't so bad. doesn't belong on the album though.
Disc 2:
A Million Stars: wonderful vocals from Kristy (as always), nice lead melody and accompanying synths but the beat feels too flat.
Love Can Kill You: . it irritates me because he has the talent and potential to make great music and he squanders it in favor of this mediocre, forgetablle fluff.
Always: what the is this?! christ, leave the ty rock-trance to tiesto and armin, please.
Le nocturne de lumière: much better & infinitely more interesting than most of the vocal tracks on the album. atmospheric, original
The Unbreakable: Rob Dickinson's voice makes me wanna kill. sounds like the douche from Kings Of Leon. horrible
The Ghost In You: nice chilled cover song. reminds me of an even more ambient version of 'Satellite'.
Conclusion: It's up and down. in my opinion it should have been 1 CD with the following tracklist; Every Other Way, The Light In Things, Rose Of Jericho, A Million Stars, La Nocturne De Lumiere and maybe The Ghost In You (if not here then as a B-side).
I wish he would've stuck to his guns instead of trying to merge alternative with dance like the rest of the schmucks out there but I guess we'll never get that classic dance style from him again |

| I thought the album was garbage. It would be a disgrace to put it in the CD shelf next to IMA and ESMC. |

I've given this as many listens as I care to - this is mostly garbage. Leave it to BT to create gorgeous pieces of music & stutter glitch it into oblivion. I don't even understand how he managed to make one part of a song nice, but then have it all go straight to hell within seconds. I have a headache as I'm typing this.
At least the over-the-top production value in Emotional Technology was cool at times, like the special effects Star Wars. But here it's simply too much. Way too much. |

I didn't find Emotional Tech cool by any stretch...this is a definite improvement on that album, though that isn't saying a whole lot. |

What I meant to say that while I don't consider Emotional Technology to be a good album overall (it had some catchy chord sequences here & there as well as nice vocal parts [but a lot of horrid ones as well]), it at least had a general direction. It's grandiose electronica, take it or leave it.
This album is attempting to do so much in such little time it falls flat on its ing face. As with ET, I really like some of the ideas BT had here but it's swashed together with so much crap it's not really worth it. |

| Well, my interest was definitely waning by the end of disc 2. He somewhat goes back to his roots on a few of these tracks but it is a bore overall. It's definitely less offensive than ET. |

| ET grew on me eventually but it's still much more poppy than what I usually listen. If the comments here and the clips I've heard are anything to go with, THM will be the first BT album I'll pass completely. A couple listenable tracks don't justify buying a full album for me, unless much much later when I can get the cd for £2,90 on amazon. |

I'm a BT fan and I have to say first off that I was looking forward to this album. Also, MISL (international version) still remains my favorite album by him.
With that said, this isn't a horrible album or something at all. I just think the flow of the discs could've been better. Meaning, the songs don't mesh well together listening to it back to back. There are some forgettable tracks also.
I'll still buy the album regardless when it comes out because it's a good listen.

Suddenly - Starts off the album on a good note. Nice track and the vocals don't overpower the whole thing.
The Emergency - This track is not bad but not BT. It seems like the track sounded too much like current trends. I agree with Rapid on that one. I can listen to it just fine though, no problem.
Every Other Way - Good vocal track. My only problem is that it messes with the flow of the CD. I think the placement could've been better.
The Light In Things - I like this track. Solid one and JES is always a welcomed voice.
Rose of Jericho - The Dues Ex cut is my favorite of all the versions of this track floating around. Good track.
Forget Me - I agree with Rapid once more that it isn't bad but it doesn't belong on the album. Since the track is on here, Every Other Way should've preceded this track to close out the CD.

Million Stars - Great track and Kristy lays out some great vocals. I hear the low side of the album and then something like this comes along and BT makes up for it.
Love Can Kill You - At the moment, I don't really care for the track but I don't know. Something about it doesn't set with me.
Always - I don't like this track much on first listen and also the placement of the song was bad on the disc. For the time being, this track and LCKY are probably the lower points on the whole project.
Le nocturne de lumière - Right now, this is probably my favorite song on the album but that might change. He played this track live in Helsinki, I believe and the place went crazy. I don't know if that version was a bit different or not.
Unbreakable - This one I'm up in the air about but I'm leaning towards the "I don't like it." category. Again, like Rapid said before, Rob's vocals aren't a good compliment to the rest of the track. Christian Burns on this would've been better.
The Ghost In You - Nice take for BT on the Psychedelic Fur cover but again, I don't think it belongs on the album.

If BT would've cut a few of the tracks out and condensed it to one disc, then it would've worked out much better. I believe then it wouldn't have sounded so "all over the place". After waiting all this time, I wasn't let down so much as I feel that it could've been better.
I know BT is very bright and talented but I think he tries TOO hard some times and doesn't let it just flow. With that being said... I'd put this and ET in the boat. I can't decide yet which of the two I like more though. I'll figure that out some time later.
I hope his next album doesn't take as long to release. He has immense talent and I believe he can make some more classic stuff. |
