I don't think its possible for ANYONE to live up to Flaming June or Mercury and Solace.... BT set the bar a bit too high lol.
As far as money goes, He does not do alot of live performances, which is where most artists get their money. So I think he may be trying to grab some cash with this one. One can only hope he will give us another quality artist album someday...
I am going to buy it, and hope for the best.... Hopefully if he makes enough money he will make amazing stuff again.

And common guys, this album is no where near as bad as kaleidoscope. It could at least be a legitimate guilty pleasure.

I don't claim to be BT's accountant but I'm pretty sure there's no way this could be true. I'm pretty sure movie studios pay for the orchestra and recording facilities and all that. You might be thinking of a comment he made a while back about selling his car in order to afford having TBU screened in theatres (or something along those lines).

Doo Doo album. Le Nocturne De Lumiere and Rose of Jericho are the only standouts. Sucks because I was really looking forward to this one after the disappointments from TCM (Divided By Night) and WOW (We Love Machine). Here's hoping Hybrid delivers with "Disappear Here".
Regarding "These Hopeful Machines" I just can't believe that this was all BT could muster after delivering so consistently in the past. I know some folks didn't like the direction he took with MISL and audiences are still split on ET, but I enjoyed every album from Ima to TBU. This though...ugh. Save for the two tracks listed above THM is simply awful.

I am liking this album, what irks me is that I can't actually buy the cd since no store in my area has it in stock yet. Apparently Southern California is an unimportant market.

Perhaps not as bad, but unlike Kaleidoscope people actually had expectations for this and this album completely fails to live up to them.

just listened to this one my headphones and ive noticed something. there are so many little synth sounds, riffs and ideas that would have made great songs had they been the primary focus (rather than the scattered little moments they were reduced to). I feel like BT was attempting to be way too versatile here in showing us everything he can do (ala TBU) and shot himself in the foot in the process.
