was entertaining throughout its whole length, but agree that the story was a bit lacking... the main character in particular.. he knew what he was doing the whole time - never had to make any tough decisions. although he switched teams, he had no inner struggle whatsoever, just did what any decent natured person would do as info was revealed to him, and tried to keep his blue gf from being pissed at him.

also a lot of pointless scenes that had no signifigance other than visual effects... ie. jake shows his incompetence because he can't ride the horse thing in front of the natives, then the exact same situation happens a couple scenes later with the pterodactyl thing, except we get to watch the girl fly it around for a bit... oooh, ahh.

but still, can't argue with how good those visual effects were - and was impressed with how well the 3d glasses actually work... and the story was still decent and well paced. give it 8/10

my thoughts EXACTLY....
the first half just seemed like pointless visual effects showboating... and the story wasn't all that strong...
but the visual experience was so stunning that i have to give this movie a big thumbs up... oh, and go see it in 3D... i'm sure its worth the extra few bucks...

you do understand that, just like district 9, this movie had a strong political message?? well, more like a reminder??

visually beautifull, masterfully directed, helluva rollercoaster of a movie. i really enjoyed it

well, if they wanted "jakesully" to be mentioned in the same breath as neo, luke skywalker etc. they could have written him differently.. this guy was just forgettable overall imo which isn't great for a potential sci-fi franchise.

who said they wanted that? I'm pretty sure Cameron's protagonists have a niche of their own!

not going to get into the specific details of my example, but there were a lot of action scenes that were redundant and seem like they were just jammed in for the wow factor. just one unbelievable scene at 100mph and then another one that outdoes it, with hardly any emotion or meaningful dialogue going on between the characters. not that any of this is surprising for today's action/scifi films, but still disappointing as we know cameron doesn't need that crutch to make a good movie

I really don't see where you're pulling these out.. I can't even complain with the movie being 2.5 hours that it was long - everything felt just right
I mean if this is too much action for you, then I can only suggest Planet Earth..

Well done Sam Worthington, another Aussie making his mark ;) :eyes:

It's already brought in half of it's budget...

This one will top $1B I think...

I can't wait to see it...

same tired political message as dances with wolves or pocahontas, but with an al gore twist

Movie and visuals are friggin amazing, this is the new standard of visual imagery... it'll take a while for others to catch up.

If it wasn't for the crazy visuals, the movie would've been 1 hour too long, maybe i wouldn't even go in the first place.

It's already enough to get inundated with hippie green hugging crap on tv and newspaper 24/7, it's another thing to actually pay money for it.

OK, so I'm buying tickets to see this movie in the IMAX 3D experience at Famous Players Colossus (Hwy 7 and 400).

I really have no idea of when we should show up to get reasonable seats.

One one hand its a Wednesday early show (630pm). On the other hand it only came out this past Friday and its the Christmas break, so lots of ppl are done with work and prolly out wanting to see flicks more than usually during the week.

What are you ppl who may know more than me thinking? is arriving at 6pm not soon enough likely?

Would love some feedback. :)

That's where I saw it and I HIGHLY suggest you get there early, like 45 mins to an hour early. Alot of potential fights could have occured before the movie because of people saving seats for others who had not showed up yet. If there is not as big of a lineup, then I apoligise for misleading, but I highly doubt it (they open the doors 30 mins before showtime and there are no ads before the movie starts).

Appreciated.
