If for some reason, that someone was "just there for the excellent musical repertoire" or "fabulous social scene" then no harm, no foul. That argument goes right out the window when they search you (with FAR beyond what any JP would feel constitutes reasonable grounds for S&S) and find half a key or whatever.
I'm not saying that the State should have the unfettered right to S&S, but within reasonable grounds? Absolutely. I welcome any 5-0 / border guard / rent-a-cop to search my , because they'll find a debit card and a pack of Captain Blacks. Not a metric tonne of banned substances. |

My point is Barb that in our society, the situation isn't supposed to suck...
The cops aren't supposed to get out of line...
They are employed...BY ME... to keep everyone in line...
I don't pay the amount of taxes that I pay for civil servants to break my balls unless they have reason to believe that I...ME DIRECTLY... is doing something wrong... |

A warrant issued for a business does not include the patrons.
When the CZ raid happened, the officer that processed me said "if you have tabs I'll let you toss em" I reply " I don't have any"
After that exchange, the officer only went into the jacket pocket that I directed him too...containing my ID

Exactly. People are basically assuming that cops busted in and started pulling out people's pockets. It's entirely possible that everybody who was arrested either (a) was visibly sketchy/tweaked, or (b) fell for some stupid cop trick and effectively abdicated their rights.
Think about it - only 15 arrests? There would have been way more than that carrying something. Most were probably quick enough on the draw to avoid search. |
