I appreciate a good portion of those lists, but so many of those tracks are just too minimal for me.

Figures that after a discussion like this I go on beatport and search for hours without finding anything worth a damn. :p

The most important thing with dance music for me right now, is that it sounds warm, and inviting. That it makes me and other people feel good. I think there is a compromise to be had between playing music that is seriously cutting edge and covering new ground and things that are familiar and easily accessible.

but doesn't that completely rule out some of the best and most innovative dance music ever?

hardly warm and inviting. I wish more people would continue in the spirit of this, rather than put on yet another night of anemic house music. who ing needs it?

Yeah it probably does. I would call the first song warm and inviting actually. That U.S. Alliance track is great, thank you for introducing me to it. That Shackleton is amazing too but not very useful to me. The other tracks are what I personally consider to be annoying music.

I know it was pretty stupid, but I said that about warm and inviting music because those are qualities that I need most since I'm still nearly always an opening DJ who gets things going early. Thats just the kind of music I prefer to hear when I get to a party and what I like to play, and thats where my headspace is most these days when I take in dance music. That doesn't mean I don't like dark music or any other kind, I still buy and enjoy plenty of things I don't actually use when DJing. To me, a good full DJ set should go a little everywhere mood/music wise.

Sorry that it came out like that in a broader music discussion because even I don't agree with it in retrospect due to the obvious.

"freeki mf" is originally from 2003 iirc

I know this is batantly obvious but damn that Acen-track reminds me of Prodigy of that time. It's almost like Liam (or Acen for that matter) used one of the others tracks as a template to make what they did. I can hear plenty of tracks from Experience in Trip II The Moon.

Now im just waiting for an equivalent of "dj tiesto top 50 maximal house tunes" this year

As much as i rather agree to some of you in certain points when listening to these tracks (some have their charm), i can't stand the lack of some melody, funkyness or other creativeness than only some driving pads, hi-hats and sampled drumloops.

Typical l33t music...

To each his own, but please don't call me pretentious because something fails to elicit emotion from me.

That was never my intention, all I wanted was some perspective so thank you for providing that. Like Clovis said I think it's obvious you have heaps of knowledge over almost anyone here and I very much appreciate your tastes. Sometimes I'm just taken back a bit.
