I predict Djokovic/Nadal and Clijsters/Serena in the Semi's |

i was going to make a thread on this but since you already have i'll add onto it.
women
- serena has a nice quarter only person she should worry about is azarenka. she beat her last year because she withdrew but if you recall azarenka was up a set last year. either way hope that turns into something interesting.
- venus has a nice draw, she shouldn't have too many problems getting through to the quarters if she plays well, radwanska might put up a fight but she's only betten venus once in five meetings
- kuznetsova-clijsters with kim moving forward to play justine ;) in the quarters
- i have a feeling about bartoli, i say she meets safina in the quarters
doesn't really matter to me who wins this one but would be nice for venus to do something interesting again or for safina to win her first major.
i still need to look at the men's draw but i'm on team nadal. do i think he can defend his title? not positive, i can hope he's back but the federer-nadal era is coming to an end so we'll see other winners in these major events. seeing someone like monfils win would be fantastic but not sure that'll happen here or this year. |

| As long as Nadal gets blown off the court I'll be satisfied with whoever wins the men's final, although I would love it for guys like Davydenko and Soderling to make a move into the final. |

i never want to ever see nadal dominated like he was in the last US Open. also what's the dislike for rafa about he's an outstanding player and seems like a relatively nice guy, he doesn't talk about others and just plays. i say he's on par with federer on niceness and humility

I agree. I hope Safina wins this year but she seems to loose her focus in major finals. I'd like to see Dementieva win too--she's been a top 10 player for way too long.
I'm tempted to go with the 'safe' Nadal bet but I'm concerned with his explosive playing style and the effect on him physically. Maybe he should play fewer tournaments--not sure. I'm sure he'll win at least one major this year.
Hey-remember that sick shot Nadal hit against Verdasco in the semi's last year? The one he hit from like 5 feet outside the court and the ball curved around the net post because he put so much spin on it--amazing! |
