I don't think that's the case at all. No one seems irritated to me and I'm certainly not. But, you did put your ignorance on full display and took your credibility down a notch or two. Just sayin'...;) |

I've made a pretty substantial net profit buying, using, and selling hardware. Your software and your computer has probably depreciated by 50% or more and will continue to depreciate. I find it funny. :p |
I lost alot of money but I had a bad habit of buying stuff new. Of course the only synths worth having now aren't available new so I suppose now is a great time to own some hardware synths. What I enjoy most about it is that you can just turn it on and play. I have a mini grand piano and it is just so nice to just sit and play. |

Amen to that, brother. Not every musician needs or wants to stare at a computer screen. |

ive had it and it was cured by buying some gear. then i sold it all. you people just continue lol. i find it funny. |
You often seem to make the mistake of thinking that your experience of life is the same as everyone else's.
The reason some people continue using hardware isn't because, as you see it, "they're idiots who don't know better", people you can laugh at. It's because they have had a vastly different experience using hardware than you have.
Some people love skydiving and do it often, some people would never jump out of a plane. I don't know how you feel about skydiving palm, but if you think that people who see aspects of life differently to you are "funny", you're going to find a lot of things that are "funny". |

| i dont see anything wrong with using hardware, im just sceptical to the whole getting a new peace every month sort of deal, i was bitten from it myself and im sure its some sort of illness, and i doubt anyone can get much out from constantly buying new gear other that feeding the urge. just my opinion, alot of people here should focus on learning what they got, including me, before getting anything else. |

The most I've ever lost selling a piece of gear was on a 32 channel Mackie mixer I had about 12 years ago. I think I lost around $300 on it.
Besides that, I usually break even at the least, and make money a lot of the time. I'm probably "up" about 10% on my money all together. That makes it a lot easier to ignore the amount I've put in...
That won't be the case for most of the garbage people here push, though. You could break even if you were smart about it and got good deals on your gear, but for the most part, a virus isn't exactly an investment. |

But we're talking about synths here, and primarily subtractive synths. Once you've learned one subtractive synth inside and out, whether it's hardware or software, you pretty much understand the basics of any subtractive synth. Each time I get a new synth, it only takes me one quick read through the manual to figure out what the mod sources/destinations are, any new/unique features, etc. followed by a few hours of twiddling knobs before I've "learned" the synth. It's not like I need to relearn what an LFO or envelope does each time I get a new synth. It's sorta like test-driving a new car - all the basic controls are there, although they each respond differently, so it's really a matter of figuring out if it feels right to you. That's why sometimes it only takes a few days or weeks for an experienced user to realize whether or not a synth works for him. |

| But most people doenst have 10 cars? When they get a new one they usualy sell the old. or they can have two, like one for the city and one for the mountains. im stopping now, im just glad i got rid of that urge, it almost broke me financially lol. |

What do cars have to do with music? Where is the rule that people are always supposed to only have one of something? Can people not have two computers, two boxes of tissues, two rooms in their house?
There is nothing wrong with people having more than one synth - their approach is valid, just as your approach to only have one synth is valid. There's nothing right or wrong about either approach.
It's interesting when people have strong views about what other people should or shouldn't be doing. As long as they're not breaking the law, why do you care what total strangers do with their time and money? |

| i "care" because i find peoples urges for something useless interesting. weird brain activity has always interested me, and i found especialy this interesting after having that urge or desire for hardware myself. does it coming from lacking of something else? im wondering how i got to that state and i also wonder how i got out of it and i think its funny to see other in the same state. im not saying everyone has it, but some here buys more than they need. like i did. |

| i find your fascination with other people's hobby fascinating.I have a hobby similar to synth collecting and that is scores. I have all kinds of rare and expensive scores that I could probably learn from but I just have too many to ever get thru them all. I like how they look in my library tho. I don't need any other justification. |
