But everyone who saw the legendary 6 hour set @ the old Space (2003?) and were HUGE PvD whores say how bad he's gotten. It's the truth so give it a rest.

I'd believe he played better on Saturday for the simple fact I heard Friday's set and it wasn't special. What used to set PvD aside from every other boring trance DJ was the fact that he could deliver 4+ hours of banging ass music without having to take it down. He was relentless which isn't the case anymore.

Once again, didn't hear Tell Me Why (Vandit Mix) on the Friday's set. Someone PLEASE tell me it was played Saturday. Srsly, it's his best fuking track & the 10 year anniversary party yet he doesn't play it?? That's just full of LOSE!

I agree with you too Lis because someone of his stature shouldn't be playing repeat when he is probably getting so much new exclusive tracks. He should be pushing the boundaries and be ahead of everyone else. I don't get why he is still playing old tracks from the same sets. I want to be blown away during WMC with new material not the same you play at every other show.

I still had an awesome time at this show none the less!

I'm not sure i'd agree that he stopped being epic..... He isn't booked to play longer sets because it is WMC weekend and there are other big names opening and closing for him. In LA where they have tons of trance dj's coming through, they typically play 2-3 hour sets. I guess that's the way it is.... Also you have to remember that if he is playing 2 nights then what's the problem with playing 2 different styles? Or mixing it up a little bit? His Friday night set was perfect, he picked up where Sander left off, banged it out towards the end, and left Guiseppe (who was ing amazing) plenty of room to close that out properly. Saturday was a whole different story. You should have been there for that.

Also i'll concede the point that his track lists both nights weren't completely new, but what dj's don't recycle tracks from recent sets? You're delusional if you think that or expect it. I'm fortunate to be from the LA and have seen plenty of b2b (next night or next week) shows in LA/SF where dj's like Tyas, O'bir, Askew, Patterson, etc. play similar sets. Same with Ferry, Armin, etc....

PVD's sets evolve over time and change slowly. That's the way he and every other dj does it. You can't honestly tell me he plays the same stuff now that he did a year ago? NO ing way. Maybe 10% of the tracks overlap. Not counting this weekend i've seen him at least 10 times in the last 12 months in 4 different cities and have seen his set evolve to what it is now. Anyways, different stroke for different folks I guess.....

Btw I don't remember him playing Tell Me Why on Saturday, but there were 2 times I had to go up to the terrace for like 20 minutes to grab drinks from friends who were buying and too lazy to come down. He played a good number of his classics though......

i guess to each is own about pvd
me personally i though his set was great
he played alot of melodic and driving trance and left that hard techy mash-up home
svd sucked balls...same recycled songs for the past 6 months horrible

first time at space and to be honest the staff and everything was just a mess outside and at the door
once inside i expected the mainfloor to be much bigger
like i seen pics and videos from years ago and it looked bigger i dunno, and the tables on the mainfloor didnt help much either
the sound was great tho
but yea i personally thought pvd played a great set i left with a smile on my face :D

True.

I remember when WMC used to be all about playing new or trying out. Now it's just a typical set for some dj's. Ferry to me was the only one who actually did a proper set with new - not out yet, current stuff and a nice mix of classics.

I agree with lis - 10 years of PvD and no Tell Me Why?!? Looks like he is just conforming to the wmc crowds now. Compared to his sets ages ago - this is def not the PvD we all once knew and loved.

It's sad to see some Miami ppl sweating his balls when I think most people with a brain can agree Nov 2005 was prob the best PvD set ever...

Funny thing is PVD's recent sets in Miami always create the biggest arguments on TA. Everyone has some points, but the most important thing of all is that almost everyone that went on Friday enjoyed themselves & had a good time, which last time I checked is the most important thing about any party.

With that said, musically his set was not anything earth-shattering, it was okay. I personally would've liked alot more newly released stuff, IDs & better mix of PVD classics. But I know that is too much to ask for from PVD these days. Luckily the structure of his set for the most part, crowd interaction & energy he had behind the decks made the set good to me. SVD & GO alone made teh night worth it as well. I agree that PVD's setlist was similar to what he was playing when he last came here & throughout all of 2009. And those house songs he keeps whoring out have been in his playlist for several years & need to go into the wastebasket for good. PVD of old never would have held on to the same tracks so long, and he was always playing new & pushing boundaries. For anyone to argue he is as good now as we was then makes them either retarded, PVD's personal fluffboy, or someone who just hit 18 yoa and never saw PVD from 1999 thru 2004 when he was truly one of the best DJs around.

Or at least the best set YOU ever saw right? I find it funny how there's a few on here who will have it no other way, this 2005 show was the best ever!!! no other show even came close or ever will again.

I'll agree PVD was at his best around that time for me too, but his sets even then were very similar from city to city. To say this 1 particular night will forever be his best is kind of silly and ignorant as I highly doubt you attended any of his Love from Above/Vandit nights in Berlin, Gatecrasher/Love Parade etc etc.

As predictable as his set this past weekend might have been I found it to be way better than the sets I heard from the likes of Cosmic Gate, Ferry Corsten, Solarstone, A&B. What happened to trance? too many gay ass vocals, fluffy build ups followed by more gay ass fist pumping to the predictable breakdown before you do it all over again with an identical sounding song.

Right on about your last point. While PVD didn't do anything extraordinary this weekend, neither did anybody else. Pick the lesser of the two poisons I guess lol..... I'm also sick of the predictability of most trance sets...... When you listen to PVD sets they are unique.... There are very few trance dj's who throw down sets that are unique, 00Flemming being one of them.

In regards to the infamous 2005 show and his sets ever since, I can say with certainty that you should go see him in other cities. Especially other big "party cities" like LA, SF, Vancouver, and go see his sets at REAL RAVES like Monster Massive, EDC, Nocturnal (All huge LA raves), or his one solo raves like he does at Roseland Ballroom. He has played some WICKED sets in LA/SF clubs and festivals. The two 08 sets he played at 1015 Folsom in SF were probably the best i've ever seen....... Miami is a special area I guess, and it is one of those cities that he tends to play "experimental." You are more likely to get consistently hard or "trancier" sets in those other cities. Vancouver BC also. When I was on the West Coast there were many times I would listen to some of his recent "experimental" recorded sets only to find that days later he would play at a local venue and throw down waaaaaaaay different. So I guess the one bad thing about him is that he doesn't play consistently from city to city....... But who really does? And when you think about it, he's an artist and has to cater to his audience that night...... Hence the reason why you get weird sets like the one at Club Glow in DC this past Thanksgiving. Tourist crowd on a holiday weekend, age 21+, in a city that isn't that big into trance, hence the reason why he tones it down a bit and plays more commercial..... If you want to hear a "harder" PVD set then go to an all age (or 18+) rave/festival. He always plays harder for "party crowds."

Also don't forget that he has ALWAYS played a variety of genres. If you look at the track lists of a lot of his older 02-05 sets there is tons of house, progressive house, techno, etc. I don't know why any of this is a surprise or why people think it's a new thing......

Also regarding his track list for his Friday set, this is WMC weekend! Is it wrong for him to play a set where 50-60% of the songs are Vandit releases. He is supporting his own artists and his label on one of the biggest weekends for electronic music wporldwide. After all, the set was going to be recorded and broadcasted worldwide......

November 2005 was his best set ever to me as well. Take it from someone who has seen PVD over 70 times worldwide if not more at this point. This was all 2002-current

My problem with everyone saying he is predictable. He always has been, even in his glory days of 1998 - 2003. So is pretty much every other headliner. If you want to hear something you have not heard before then switch it up. I go because no DJ I have found comes close to PVD's style of music. Just like this past friday, tons of hard beats added to tracks that were otherwise not heard. Same concept of his pvd reworks back in the day.

Not to me... ONLY. That seemed to be the biggest consensus on this borads in the history of my posting on this website.

There I would have to disagree that his set varied from city to city. Flo has said so himself and he has seen pvd at all those parties you mentioned ;)

I'm saying this set looks ordinary. He had 10 years of amazing tunes he could have worked with - and didn't even do much. His prior WMC sets were some of the best.. I believe 2004 or 05 was a great one that is up for download somewhere.

I guess I am really trying to call out the 40 year old whore who thinks that this is the best PvD set ever when she really only got into him a few years ago. So maybe if you recently got into PvD - then yes.. Amazing WMC set.

I'm dubious of this to say the least, I could say I saw every pvd show ever and this infamous 05 miami set was not the best. Infact I bet I could find the tracklisting for this 05 show and then find another 05 show in say Berlin pretty much identical TL but you'd still swear blind the Miami show was better because Dream Beamz or Flo said they saw the Berlin show and Miami was better.

It's a ridiculous argument but the reality is you guys were probably rolling face harder than you ever did since, you probably all embraced in numerous group hugs and heard some pretty ing good music. You've never shared that moment since and so it will forever live as your personal favorite pvd set. Thats cool, but you know there's probably thousands of pvd fans in the world who'd say the same about a pvd gig that took place somewhere else.

That's just the reality of it.

It's really not that.. but go ahead and find the tracklist.

It was the week after he was voted #1 and not many of us could ID tunes. He had a completely different attitude up there.

I've been seeing PvD since March 2001.. I just gave up on him the past year. I've had many great times at his shows and I have an insane amount of memories thanks to him.

I am saying it was better because out of all the times I have seen him, and all the years I have seen him, this one will always stick out the most.

Were you even there?? You had me and DA and Flo & Lis there.. prob all the biggest PvD whores at that time and we couldn't ID anything he played that night.

edit - oh and about ur last paragraph. That is exactly what I was thinking about this WMC party which IS available for download. I wanted to tell everyone who was fuked up at this party to listen to it sober :haha:

& pls stop taking what I said out of context. I said the MIAMI people swearing this is the best PvD set when the majority of us ALL agree Nov 2005. I wasnt talking abotu pvd fans across the world. They all have their same nights. My bf talks about the Roxy night in 03? I think... I talk about Nov 05... and of course the first time I saw him March 01.
AY STAR
heres a few vids i took
