2010.03.26 [NITE] PAUL VAN DYK + Sander Van Doorn + Giuseppe Ottaviani @ SPACE (pg. 29)

Nov 2005 was IT & people including ones who saw the legendary 6 hour set @ the OLD Space agree. My boyfriend saw the 6 hour set @ the OLD Space & he still agrees Nov 2005 was fuking A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Aug 2005 was also up there (2nd best) but Nov 2005 was a night that literally left us all like WHAT THE ! We wanted MOREEEEE. He had JUST won #1 DJ for the first time a week before so it was an all around epic night.

Now I agree we could predict PvD then as well but we always expected him to BRING it. At that time we couldn't really ID either. In Nov 2005 the tiest track he played was Time of Our Lives & right @ the end. He didn't do the typical play all my mainstream tracks like he always did. He just brought mayhem to Space that night. That night was so insane that the sound got cut off for about 5 mins & instead of taking it down he just restarted the track that got ed up again from the beginning LOL (which was a banging ass track mind you). He didn't have to warm people up again, everyone just went on as if nothing happened.

Plain & simple, listening to this WMC set from Friday just proves that PvD isn't for me anymore. I can go see him in Nov or whenever he comes again & I'm sure I'll hear a similar set for less money. It's been done already. Unless you recently began liking PvD or are just one of those people who are in denial to see his style/music/shows have changed then you'd see for what it was.

My boyfriend also loved his 6 hour set but he talks about 2005 more. We all have our favorite PvD shows like Mel said but it's funny how they're all from that time, I haven't seen one person say anything past 2006 LOL.

blah blah blah

the old school pvd fans think he use to be better

the people who just now got into pvd think he is now better

it's this way with every dj...it's exactly why you either no longer listen to a dj or it is why you now listen to them.

all a matter of preferences at the end of the day. i personally prefer the old pvd as well, back when he played proper trance.

Comparing old school to new pvd is like comparing filet minion to rump roast lol. I like the filet minion. The n00bs/the people who are in denial can have the rump roast. He doesn't even play proper trance anymore yet I'm sure he has access to sooooo much exclusive music. I hate DJ's who conform.

i.e. Armin, Tiesjoke...ETC!

ya, it seems like every dj gets worse with time...a damn shame.

I just want WMC to be a big deal - again!

I want dj's to showcase tunes that aren't coming out till December!

I want dj's to try out new tunes they may have JUST finished! I just don't want a set that I can hear you play next week - where ever they may be.

I want to be like - omfg I was @ wmc when Paul debuted this track first.

yeah i agree

GO was awesome... definitely owned the main room imo. Just really boils down to personal preference though, which is why the pvd argument is an impossible one. I thought he played a decent set, just nothing mind blowing. The times he lost me just allowed me to check out the terrace and loft. By the way, Beyer and Ritch = Holy Sh*t. I agree with Mel, though, I didn't hear a lot of unreleased stuff from any djs this week, which is one of the main reasons I look forward to wmc. Oh well, I still rank this night as my favorite because of GO, along with the variety provided by the loft and terrace, including some guys named Chus & Ceballos :tongue2 , who have never let me down.

I'm dubious of this to say the least, I could say I saw every pvd show ever and this infamous 05 miami set was not the best. Infact I bet I could find the tracklisting for this 05 show and then find another 05 show in say Berlin pretty much identical TL but you'd still swear blind the Miami show was better because Dream Beamz or Flo said they saw the Berlin show and Miami was better.

It's a ridiculous argument but the reality is you guys were probably rolling face harder than you ever did since, you probably all embraced in numerous group hugs and heard some pretty ing good music. You've never shared that moment since and so it will forever live as your personal favorite pvd set. Thats cool, but you know there's probably thousands of pvd fans in the world who'd say the same about a pvd gig that took place somewhere else.

That's just the reality of it.

Your a complete moron just because you post stuff about people you have no clue about. Taking personal attacks on someone saying they thought it was great because of drugs only helps me define your past and what kind of person you are to judge just because I said a night was good.

One thing is for sure, you will not find a tracklisting for Nov 2005 and nor do any sets I have sound like what we heard that night, most tracks that night were ID's and still are. I listened to every set that came out around that time, released and unreleased to no avail. The set was not recorded. On top of that, I was in Berlin for a Vandit night I do thing two months before that in September 2005. Although it was good, it was as good as you were "hoping". Last I looked there was a complete tracklist for that set somewhere.

November 2005 was the last time I heard him play off Ableton. Jan 2006 at Spirit in Hollywood Florida was probably one of the worst sets I have heard from him and it was the first time I heard him on Ableton.

ID this track that I have only heard that night if you can, there are plenty of other tracks but I forgot my memory stick that night so i was limited to 128 megs

Haha, roxy 03 was good in its own special way, especially for the last super extended set paul played. Of course my first time still stands strong. Nov 05 was great

Your right, the crowd just went even crazier. No one left, no one cared. PVD owned that night. It was his way of saying "I am number one now hear me roar"

Which one, the first club space at 142ne 11th st or Space 34 when it first opened up at 34ne 11th st with the 2 story main room before they filled the floor in?

I think both were great but everything since they filled the floor in doesnt do that place justice
MeLLyMeL
Before they filled in the 2nd floor and before they made the club wide.

I always liked it "long":sadgreen:
