No strategic zoom, no simulated projectiles, no units shooting on the move. Just doesn’t excite me. I really wish it did, dedicated PC products are few and far between these days but SC 1.5 doesn’t do it for me :( damn you supreme commander!

Lots of interesting units that work together and against each other in really different ways instead of the same lame old supreme commander unit spam!

Infact a lot of the hard counters seem to have been toned down in starcraft 2.

is there anywhere i can find a guide that explains the rock-paper-scissor relationship between units? the manual is ing useless, as are the tutorials.

Yeh it really is pretty good, and some cool custom maps (like the one's for warcraft 3) will be out soon for it.

Play the "challenge" maps... and click the help button during them. They teach you the basic counters of each of the races.

Some basic run downs:

PVT

Zeals>Marines
Marauders>Zeals (because of the slowdown upgrade) and stalkers because of the extra damage they do to them

However, price for price immortals are about equal to marauders or slightly worse... but they do a lot of damage to them. So you get your zeals to be hit while sniping enemy marauders with your immortal.

Immortal>Siege tank

Add in colossus with range upgrade (as owns small units)... but can be very easily sniped by marauders.

Add in Sentry for forcefield/damage reduction field

Possibly also use dark templar for harassment, however they can be fairly easily killed once detected

Add in high templar for support also maybe, psionic storm is still powerful, especially if the enemy doesn't have good micro.

For terran: Spam Marauders, with a equalish number of marines for support (especially if the enemy has voidrays) and snipe enemy colosii first, then sentries, then immortals.

Add medivac for support... especially if the enemy has high templar. Can also be useful for drops, I've seen a thor drop work well before.

Add raven for EMP which owns toss apparently

Maybe use reapers for harassment if the enemy isn't watching his probes closely

Note that vikings are roughly equal to voidrays(2-1 since they cost about half)... so make sure you have at least a 3/2 ratio if the enemy spams voidrays.

Units that don't see much usage:
Carriers: I think they're a bit underpowered in starcraft 2, I prefer voidrays really.
Battlecruiser: Owned by voidrays
Ghost: Don't really know why, but maybe could be useful for sniping enemy high templar or even immortals (snipe is a spell so ignore's the immortals shield)
Pheonix: Might be useful backup for voids if the enemy starts spamming vikings to counter your voids

Also EVERYONE SHOULD POST REPLAYS

and pkc should v.s. me

my char name is: Darkarbiter 265 (and for you Americans, I'm Australian so you can't add me yet)

There’s definitely more variation and tactical depth, but its still nowhere near as awesome as supcom thank you very much. I don’t particularly like the fact that other than expansions and the intel points, there’s really no benefit to holding ground anywhere else.

Well expansions, intel... and easier to defend if you get 4324234 warning they're tryna invade your base, but you can invade theirs immedietly.

What's the 4+ benefits of holding ground in supreme commander?

Anyway, upload a replay (they're under documents/my documents/starcraft2/account/#random numbers/something/replays/multiplayer

Man, playing the single player has made the multiplayer seem like a WC3engine port of SC1. I wish the tech trees were MUCH more expanded. The single player has tech trees that expand within the Command Ship that enable bunker turrets, expanded bunker slots, etc. They are also decision based, so you have to sacrifice 1 tech for the other. I wish there was a way that Blizzard could have pushed this into multiplayer.
That's my biggest and only gripe.

I do praise the decision to keep battle.net free though. Everyone has the same battle.net experience and there are not yet talks of a Battle.net $Premium$ service. There were 1 million players logged in this weekend and I've yet to be disconnected.

Well you can play the standard maps with mods... that could include additional units for each race.

Just wait for a few mods to come out that add 2+ units for each race.

If you're right in front of their base then you can send in an attack order and it'll be gone quickly.

If they try to attack you they have to move far.
pkcRAISTLIN
oh ok, you made it sound like i could use them to teleport or something.
