dont see the problem here, if you dont like these kinds of tracks then
a) dont listen to them
b) dont go to see DJs who play them

lol, so if someone gives their opinion on a subject in a forum, and someone else believes that opinion is bull, they are not allowed to say so and give their reasons why?

Isn't that what discussing topics on forums is all about - to give our own viewpoints and argue other viewpoints if they oppose our own? :conf:

Having heard a few of these tracks in clubs I don't think it works at all. No matter how solid your kick, bass, etc. is, listeners can still tell that something is missing. I've only heard a couple tracks where this technique actually sounds good. Most of the time MASSIVE drop in energy from what i've experienced.

What kind of tracks are you talking about as there are at least two kinds being discussed in this thread.

seriously. +1,000

the problem is that almost every producer follows this form. It is unimaginative. It is a cop out and I suppose I'm politely asking for people to stop doing it every single ing time.

The tracks the OP was talking about. Buildup and then when the drop comes it goes back to basic beat n bass.

Seriously it's gotten to the point where I'm going through my beatport crate on other sites that give sectional previews on ANY part of the track; not the part the artist selects.

I wasted so much money in the last two years buying tracks that had great previews on Beatport but then when I downloaded them the energy is gone when the break ends.

IMO; it's lazy ass producers that aren't creative enough or don't care to spend the time to program the break to carry over well enough. I mean it's kinda funny that alot of the previews on Beatport don't feature the track after the break ends. Guess it means at the least that the producers know their tracks suck:haha:

Completely agree with what Richie posted - I hear it in trance, prof and tech, it completely pisses me off.

Andd yes, I go listen to something else in stead but it's becoming quite common.

I too think it's a cop out - it's just lazy programming, both from the producer and the DJ-

The statement "well, at least you've got a rhythm/beat to dance to at the drop" is just indicative of using lowest common denominator to please a crowd and shows lack of ability to properly build a breakdown or melody and carry it through a drop.

Don't get me wrong, I think sometimes it's interesting to change it up like that but the sheer number of tracks doing it now make me beleive that the producers and DJ's are looking for an easy way out of a buildup. The again, it doesn't surprise me as a lot of DJ's and producers think a white noise sweep is an adequate build up.

From a producing point of view, I feel it's because sometimes they have a great melody but can't make it sit right as part of the main drop so they just strip it back to basics for the drop.

Apart from the few tracks where I see it as a interesting twist, I thihk it's nothing more than populaist lazy programming.

i don't think it's lack of skill or laziness or anything like that, a lot of these producers use to make the records you guys are after but from their own experiences have changed their arrangements. i guess you guys have found a niche in today's music though, obviously being 3 pages in on this thread says there's some kind of market for the epicness to continue.
