The powdered cheese kind is not that great, the "premium" stuff comes with a cheese sauce. Much better :p

Some of the gastropubs out here get crazy with the mac & cheese, blending several different cheeses together, adding spices etc. The best is oven baked black truffle mac & cheese

cheese sauce ala velveeta or something?? lolol

there's a restaurant down the street from my house that makes a ing bomb 5-cheese macaroni and cheese dish. it's got crunchy stuff on top too... sooo good.

i often make my own macaroni and cheese... for noodles i typically do something that holds liquid well like conchiglie or orecchiette. i always make my own cheese sauce, usually with gouda, mixed with fresh herbs and heavy cream. i always bake it a little afterwards with some shavings of cheese on top. i've also used gorgonzola, which made a pretty good sauce

sounds like you had too much milk and it could not properly coagulate. powder, then milk, then mix, then let it sit and it will stiffen up and be less liquidy.

or next time get velvetta. Just make sure the toilet is open when you eat it ;)

i found this review of macaroni and cheese enlightening

Now you gotta try it with hot dog slices, sliced sausages, or ketchup

i always preferred it with ground beef/hamburger. my mom used to always it up by putting diced tomatoes in it :whip: nowadays i guess that doesn't sound so bad, though.
