Thanks for the tips, yumpop. And Intangible, thanks for the Droid link.
I hope there is some sort of meet up. The people at TOTA the founding core of TA and it would be a shame not to meet them. I think I'll post something on TOTA. Maybe the more it gets talked about, the better the chance to get it done.
I'm not happy about the cab situation...I'll google map stuff in advance & sound like I know what I'm talking about.
I've heard that the Paxahau records the sets. Is that true? I'd really like to have a collection of the music to cheer me up in the post DEMF depression. |

No problem :)
On TOTA there has been some talk of a meet up Saturday around 4:30 - back of the Vitamin or Beatport Stage... Once details are figured out I will make sure that they are posted here and in the Detroit subforum.
The cab situation is pretty typical advice for travelling. Cabbys can spot a tourist a mile away and WILL take advantage of them. Create a custom google map and print it off. Everything is close but its a good idea to know exactly where you are headed.
Also - IMO try to sneak in a granola bar regardless. If they take it away, they take it away... you lost what? 2 dollars
I posted a guide to DEMF in the DEMF for Dummies thread... check it out. It gave a few good tips.
See you at the TA meet up :) 10 more days! (or 9 for me since I'll be there friday for the Yel3 party! :D ) |

Thanks, Intangible.
I'm glad a meetup is in the planning stage and I'll be there (barring festival induced drunkenness or delirium).
I'll be sure to check out the DEMF for Dummies thread...I started the thread a couple of months ago and I'm pleased it has generated good info.
I'll be there on Friday too. And am leaving Detroit very late on Tuesday (my bus leaves at 10 pm).
While I want to meet TOTAs, I'm more excited about meeting NYTAs. We've been going to the same parties for years, but I haven't met a lot of you yet. |

alright party people...just an idea- think it would be best to start another demf thread (since this one was primarily all about info) about everyones schedule, after-parties and whereabouts...this way, we can generate a meet up or something like that. also, where theyre staying.. im sure a lot of ppl are booked in the same hotels, so perhaps have a pre/post hotel party w/ new people that share the same interests.
whattaya think? |

^ yup
you could make it a roll call thread, where people also post what hotel they are at, and what afterparties they'll be attending (pics?)
......plus, maybe a solid planned meetup place/time.
I'd love to meet some more NYTAs.... As of now I'm still rollin solo to my first DEMF and I'm starting to get that nervous excited feeling like when I first attended WMC years ago, also alone. That worked out well, as now I know a ton of people when I go down there, so I'm fairly confident the same will happen in Detroit. |

I'm going to post a roll call tomorrow on the tota forum and hopefully you nytas will post in it as well :) it will include who's attending and what After parties people plan on attending. I'll also include links to picks, a meet up time, and other info |

I suggested the meetup last night on TOTA since no one had mentioned it. I'll also post a rollcall here for NYTAs since a lot of us know each other and I will maintain it with first post as I have done before for rollcalls.
Intangible, I have to disagree with you about the cabs. Yes, it is general advice for every city to be careful with cab drivers but in Detroit, it can be a little more dangerous. I am a native NYer who is comfortable anywhere and still, Detroit makes me leary. Tourists there are targets for a bankrupt city. Cab drivers are known to seriously with people there, be careful. |
