But as a DJ, It's weird but I find him below the value of his productions. His sets kind of lack overall punch and drive for me - they ebb to much in to the fluffy proggy trance. I always with there was a bit more darkness and drive between the stunning tracks he plays.

I like the triple J shows as they mix it up a bit, his 2 or 3 hour sets just need to jack a bit more for me.

that's fair enough: i think i like him also because the times i've seen him have been at harder trance (by which i mean normal trance and tech-trance) events so he always breaks up the night really well, playing what he does... i havn't got any of his sets actually, but i can definitely see how they could be that way when standing alone.. :)

Yes. Just about anything from Jaytech and Dinka give me equal measures of powerful inspiration and the extreme urge to question why I am bothering at all.

Most definitely Dinka for me. Easily my favorite artist right now. Its been a long time since I've loved every single track one artist has put out, but I can honestly say there isn't a single one of their tracks I dislike. Usually most producers put out a few stinkers here and there, but Dinka has been really consistent so far. The Celtic of Scotland track was a stroke of genius for me. I was kind of like ", why didn't I think of that?"

A lot of the Charlie May, Sasha, Bedrock stuff really impresses me. I'm kind of drawn to melodic music and thats what I have always made, so I'm impressed by a lot of tech house that manages to do more with less. They somehow keep things interesting with great arrangement and engineering and that is something I have yet to master on my own. I'm fascinated by what some of those guys do, and I try hard to create music in that vein, but it always seems to end up a melodic progger for me.

Little Boots - Earthquake (sasha mix), the way they tricked out that vocal was very impressive. I love it when a good producer takes a , cheese pop song and turns it into a dance floor killer with brilliant production. That used to happen a lot more back in the day than it does now. Nothing quite like pulling out a record with the logo of some pop artist, watching the other DJ's in the booth give you that "you're gonna play a track by THEM?" look and then watching it destroy the dance floor.

i havn't really gotten this from trance for a long time... i get it from a lot of other types of music though, such as whitest boy alive, radiohead and UNKLE.. i guess people who really just blend styles stand out for me

Dinka yea, Pretty much ANYONE from anjunadeep(especially paul keeley)

Daniel Portman, BT's new album showed some really good production quality I think(not so much musically..), boom jinx, mike foyle, Blizzard (so much atmosphere) and so much more

Dinka - Civilization is pretty awesomzzzz

I've never much liked prog house but this is incredible

I just lisetened to the celtic of scotland, and while the production is simply flawless, the braveheart melody wanted to make me puke then find some kittens to down.

My best from Dinka are:

never cheat on strangers
Temptation
Eyelash

and of course Ordinary People

For trance, whiteroom - whiteroom, ing blew my mind - so simple but so damn good.

The producer behind Dinka is awesome. He's got a hand full of aliasses going on which are doing very well. He's clearly got his own style for each alias he has, but you can hear it's done by the same person on. Just not sure if he'd appreciate listing them all.

I'm a huge fan of him for sure :). The ones Rann mentions are the ones that really pop out for me as well.

Chicane - Saltwater

Chicane - Offshore

Chicane - Don't Give Up

His latest ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPojLjwLzWA ) was a bit of a bummer. The track is really catchy but it's the first one which actually got me thinking: "Hmm, not to hard to do this myself." Never had that before with his music.

Yes. I'm a huge Chicane fan. Yes I have all his albums :p

Furthermore there's tracks by Daniel Portman and Passenger 10 which just blow my mind every day.

Pat Farell - Sister Walk Away (Vox Dub) - One of my favourite tracks of 2009, and a hidden gem as well as far as I'm concerned. Never really caught anybody playing it while crowds I played for responded very very enthusiastic.

Oh and I ran into these on last.fm recently: Matrix and Futurebound - Skyscraper and Matrix and Futurebound - Family, loving it.

Chicane is a legend IMO. Daniel portman is really cool about the first month you listen to him, then he just becomes w/e most of his tracks sound the same. Neelix on the other hand is amazing

The ultimate track that both inspires and intimidates me is Sandstorm.
