What point exactly?

The only point I'm seeing is that you're holding him up to some ridiculous standard. As if the heads of other public transit systems always travel via their public transit.

His response to The Star was that he takes TTC 5-6 times a day, sometimes he walks or bikes, but sometimes due to time constraints he has to cab it.

I think the guy is a douche, but that sounds completely reasonable to me. I'm sure the dude is busy as and has to be in 20 different places through out the course of the day.

I agree. He said himself that he typically only takes taxi's if he's carrying large items or if he's in a rush. Regardless of how fast TTC comes, there are still going to be instances when you don't have time to walk to and from the subway. And carrying large boxes of files (esp. if they're confidential) is not that practical on a busy subway or streetcar.

Fair enough. Those reasons make perfect sense, but to simply say "it's the cost of doing business" or "look at other business executives" isn't imo.

To all those people who lambasted this guy by saying that he "needs to live up to a better standard in order to lead" when he banged that chick, this is where that statement should be applied to.

I find this to be the scandal of his leadership, not who he diddled.

As head of the TTC he should be taking the TTC for TTC business. If that means that he has to be late for appointments than so be it. Maybe this would demonstrate the shortcomings of the TTC to him and guide him on areas to improve. Remember that these are the same people that are constantly lecturing us about the evils of cars (a taxi is a car) and trying to close down lanes for bike lanes. If their system doesnt even work for themselves, then why do they expect us to use it? Not to mention that most people dont have the free for all taxi option like he does. Its the TTC or bust for many people who are also busy and have appointments to keep. I dont have any sympathy here.

It wouldnt be nearly as bad or a scandal to me if the people involved promoted mixed transportation options as they should. However, with the anti car spirit that these people have including Giambrone, this is clearly hypocrisy, hence the scandal.

I don't think that just because he is the head of the TTC, that he should be taking the TTC for everything.

Depending on where he is, where he needs to be and what he is carrying with him - taking a Taxi is a perfectly valid thing to do.

If he needs to get across town in 15 mins, to a destination that is a few blocks away from a TTC stop carrying a box of files, then a Taxi seems like a perfectly reasonable option.

If you have a busy day, are in meetings back to back - fitting in the extra 15-20 minutes it might need to take the TTC isn't always an option.

This seems like a complete non-story.

Obviously. Its not even worth looking into. 3000 dollars won't even pay for the auditor lol.
