I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong with what happened.
Blog TO dissected the the fees and it worked out to like only $1,400 or something being spent on taxis. And at the price of taxis, isn't that much.
In the grand scheme of things, I think his costs are justified and definitely not an outrageous amount.
The only that that SHOULD be questioned is if the taxi rides were for work related purposes or if they were just for personal reasons.

So you like giving away free money to someone who makes many times more money than you do? |

Does everyone here miss the point that the HEAD OF THE TTC himself has to take taxis because the TTC isnt convenient enough?
He just confirms by his actions what ive known for years.
I love my car! ;) |
I think people also missed the part that the Head of the TTC makes very good money. Why is he dipping into tax dollars? |

| I don't get those high salary positions. One makes a six figure salary, has benefits and they still dip into taxpayer's money, why? Are they purposely doing this so they can justify bringing up fares and demand more money from the provincial and federal governments? |

and how are they getting away with this? |
Corruption. Same reason why that Jaffer guy was pulled over drunk as a skunk with cocaine and got off with just a reckless driving charge. What do you think? We are just as bad as a tinpot banana republic except a)we hide it much better and b) we are so complacent that we dont notice or dont care. |

So why should we continue to pay our taxes when we dont even know where our taxes are going?! IMO it should be a law in any country for the government to write a report, clearly stating how much taxes go into health, admin, weapons development, etc. But I'm guessing if that happened, the government would either lie about where the taxes are going or it would cause a lot of rupture in society. |

they do to a point. sometimes there is a scandal too. This is exactly what happened this time. But what do people do about it? They reelect these fools anyways. There are times when we should take to the streets but honestly, a lot would be solved if we punished these people at the ballot box.
Corruption happens all over our fine country.
-developer kickbacks
-sole sourced contracting
-pay duty policing
-conflict of interest tendering
and thats just the start.
Yeah its not mexico for example where the federalis and the mob are one in the same and they knock on your door demanding "proteccion". But Canada specializes in back door corruption which hides it from the public under a litany of red tape and regulations. Not only does this fool the public, but in effect legalizes it or at least makes it very grey area. It also allows them to go for even bigger prizes than a few pesos on the side of a highway.
Speaking of which. I think that everytime there is an artificially low speed limit on a road designed to handle faster traffic, that in itself is backdoor corruption. Instead of paying the cop off with a bribe, the money goes right to the government! |

And you'd read every one of your country's reports to ensure your money is going where you want it to right? :haha: |

If this were a private co, Adam's salary would not be considered outrageous. It would be on the low end probably. It's a huge role. |

| I don't see the big deal here. My employer pays for my travel....the people are his employer and they should pay for his business travel. |
