Video: Police use excessive brutal force in Victoria's entertainment district (pg. 2)

Things like this were the norm in the past. It was accepted. Now we got people crying bloody murder because they got a bruise on their arm from the police.

I'm not saying all police use of force is justifiable, but I do know most police officers don't go rough-housing for the hell of it. Their job is on the line.

The media get's a hold of a story and paints it with several different brushes. Let's not come to conclusions unless we know the whole story. Most if not all police officers condone this type of violence.

i dont think it was ever accepted. Perhaps it was more like most people didnt know.

I can tell you this. The entertainment district never used to have the violence provoking cops it has today. Those guys will beat u for looking the wrong way. Ive seen it time and time again. Ive been harrassed and threatened by them just for walking down the street after work.

And if you try to film it? Say goodbye to your device being in one piece!!

Dad to go to court to testify for a buddy of mine in London. Cops gave him nerve damage in his right forearm. Has constant shakes and sharp pains. He was standing around outside the bar end of the night hanging with his girlfriend when a fight breaks out around him. Cops roll in and everyone dekes but him and his gf. Cops think he was was the instigator and try to put him in cuffs. Hes obviously pissed cuz he did nothing and was getting accused so he was getting loud with them. Back up arrives. No joke, 9 officers on this average sized guy. Feeding punches, kicks, and banging him on cars. His gf was videoing the whole thing up close yellign at the police to stop. After hes in cuffs they go to her, take her camera, while one keeps her away, video gets deleted. Cop throws the camera back at her and they all take off.
I would have video'd but didnt want to get in even though I was across the street. Tons of people saw and were yelling at the cops, asking for badge numbers and stuff. So plenty of witnesses. Pretty heavy beating

It's time to bring in body-worn cameras, this way there would be no doubt on who's being an ass.

This is exactly what they were saying on Canada AM the other morning.

I hope not, im 6'5 220lbs I wonder what would happen if they suspected me of something? call in half the police force? lol

This crap happens all the time like some of you said. I know countless people who have been assaulted by the police. Good honest cops are the minority in Toronto as well as Peel. The guy in the video seemed to be complying with the officers demands and as a result got kicked and kneed in the back and ribs. But as always the officer will get a slap on the wrist.

Well if he did nothing wrong he should have kept his cool and nothing would have happened. The minute you raise your voice or argue your on the wrong side. Always be courteous even if the cop is an because it will work in your favour in the long run. I have had numerious run ins with the law and I have to say have never had any issues with the police at all.

exactly....cops just don't beat you down unless you do something to piss them off. Any time I've had dealings with police I have been polite and kept my cool and guess what???? never a single problem. The minute you disrespect an officer you should expect a full blown beat down.
