I really hope you live in an electricity free building and grow your own organics.
While I'm not quite ready to go reside in a yurt in Northern Ontario, I certainly wouldn't talk the talk, if I didn't walk the walk.
But nice try at deflecting attention away from you. Strange, as you seem to revel in it so very often.

And Jay, your libertarianism is simply anarchy gussied up to sound more palatable. I sure hope you're prepared for when it actually does come around - your car won't be of much use to you then, fyi, but I'm quite sure you'll be able to smoke where and when you want.
To picture Jay with a smoke is pretty funny...

Considering that the average person is so ridiculously self-centred that the only conscious consideration (if any, as far too many people act purely on unconscious impulse) is "how is this of benefit to me?", you'd have to pull off some pretty intensive education in order to bring people to realise the importance of thinking of the bigger picture when making supposedly small decisions.
RE:
ultimately everyone is going after their own personal benefit. Dont think even for a second that our (or any) government leaders didn't step on a few faces to climb to the top of the heap.

nice insult. I am aware of the impact of cars but this does not change the fact that i have little to no alternative but to use one. Thus, my personal choice differs from someone else who may not need to rely on a car as much. Say for example, someone who might live in downtown manhatten.
If anarchy is on the horizon, it will be because the populace will be fed up with the control and imposition and will force the pendulum to shift to the other extreme. Perhaps we should start now to avoid this by granting more liberties to them?

The reason i ask is because unless you are completely minimizing your own impact on the world around you including the environment, you should be careful about who you lecture about it.
Because while you are lecturing someone about cars, there will be someone right behind you lecturing you on your use of electricity or grocery stores and how unsustainable your behaviour is.
Moral imposition is a bitch for sure!

When I was in my 20s, I used to commute to work from the core - first, to Mississauga, then to Markham.
Now I work three part time jobs. Two of them are self-employment endeavours and are based out of my and my wife's residence. The other is right next door to where I live. My wife's work is within cycling distance and she successfully petitioned her workplace to provide her with a monthly metropass for when she isn't able to ride.
To say that you have "little to no alternative" to using a motor vehicle is incorrect - you're simply too attached to the convenience it provides.

really? so you are saying that what works for you and your lifestyle is applicable to everyone just because it works for you? Considering you dont know me or what i do or what kind of lifestyle i live, id consider that a stretch!
On top of that, not everyone wants to live downtown. I sure dont.
But congratulations on finding a lifestyle that works for you. its not for me but i dont mind if you live it!
Now leave mine alone please!

Well, as long as no one else impinges on YOU, what YOU do, or YOUR lifestyle.
Sorry to have inconvenienced you in any way, 'cuz as we're all well aware, life is all about individual convenience.

Yes we are all in it for ourselves. Is that what you wanted me to say?
Even you! Your preferences may be different, but you are still in pursuit of your own interests, your own business and your own goals. And 100% the choices you make impact someone negatively. And as soon as you become an entrepreneur that impact naturally becomes greater.
By the way, home run businesses are illegal in toronto without proper zoning because some feel that this impacts negatively on a neighbourhood, even when the business is a one man operation that does not rely on customer traffic. ;)
