Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It has nothing to do with America and is more of a creation here by beer companies than anything else. This is what happens when identity politics curriculum is pushed in schools, and kids are encouraged to believe they are "different" and "more special" than other American students. We've entered a pretty strange world when the image of an American flag is considered "incendiary" in America.

I agree with about half of that (first half). The second half i dont know...you could be making either a good point or a very, very bad one, i just cant tell.

But i would like to say this. Il bet that these kids that were sent home didnt all decide by coincidence that they'll all wear american flag shirts to school that day. In fact ill bet that they wore it strictly because they knew that it was cinco de mayo and they were looking and/or hoping to make a scene of some sorts. Yes everybody there is american, we get it, they get, it the mexicans get it, everybody gets it. But its their one ing day of celebrations, and those little ******s couldn't give them that. I wonder if they parade around in rwb on st patrics day as well or do they go about in green on that day.

From a foreigners point of view...considering that america is supposed to be this culture melting pot where everybody is welcomed, the american thing to do that day would be to put on a ing sombrero and join in on the celebrations, get drunk (they're high schoolers right? they should know how to get alcohol by now) instead of trying to stand out from a crowd.

I have to agree with this.

isn't it great that an American school kicks an American out of that school because an American school thinks that it is in the best interest to support Mexican nationalism . . .

nationalism is the same as racism except it deals with nations and not the people of the nations. . .

grow up everyone we are on earth; united we will survive; divided into countries well you see what happens

I wonder what it will take to advance the masses towards a higher ground of respect for one another. . .After all these years we still fight over petty differences;

petty differences brings about such ignorance and the media is a propaganda machine hell bent on sending a message to divide the people of the land into secularism

enjoy the world you know through bias media
enjoy the world you knew for the viel of illusions is the easiest thing to put over when the light is to bright and one wants to stay in the darkness of themselves

student Michael Scott who is known to wear his usual Old Navy clothing which does have an American flag on it was asked to change his clothes or be suspended since he chose to wear it on a Mexican National Holiday.

Students were given options on punishment from suspensions to being forced to watch Telemundo & drinking Mexican water.

Without reading the article, I'm just going to assume that they were wearing American flag t-shirts, on Cinco de Mayo, to tout the new xenophobia. Of course, I am making an assumption based upon what I have read, prima facia, but it sounds like the typical racism lite Lou Dobbs and his confederates have been feeding their confirmation biased fans for quite a while, now.

What seems to elude people in this incident is that everyone has the right to express themselves on every day of the year in America, and that "some people may be offended" is not a valid reason for censorship. The irony is that different people sporting different national colors/flags on the same day, regardless of holiday, WAS "celebrating diversity". Conforming to political correctness is why this is such a problem. What's next, banning the flag on Columbus Day to not offend Italian-Americans? This country is so ed.

Nostalgic
Surprised Fox News hasn't really picked up on this story yet on their shows.

Clearly, you're right. People do have the right to express themselves, in this country. However, the KKK can't just decide to have a rally or a march without letting local authorities know they plan to do so. They have to clear it, first, so the authorities can make arrangements for safety.
