A hypothetical/experimental question I've always wanted to test. (pg. 3)

I just saw this btw. And I'm trying to let this thread die so I'm not trying to stir anything, but I've made tracks that sound just like that already (or close enough tbo), and theres just something "Fruity" about it. It has no real drive, no real groove, the percussion are boring and the kick is lazy and just sort of bounces around with the sub.
If you want my honest opinion, that producer compensated for his lack of ability to master sound, by adding a hundred thousand melodies over everything. And we CAN very losely call that "professional" but I'm gonna link a track in a minute that *I* consider "professional" and I just want you to compare the difference in sound, depth, clarity, and overall loudness. I don't know why TO ME they just sound completely different, for both being trance tracks. |

well you must also consider the context of the track, it was definitely written to be a more laid back tune than a club banger. and

a youtube video is definitely not the way to hear the highest fidelity of a track, but regardless this would be a pointless arguement solely because what is deemed "professional" is quite subjective to the individual, but i am interested to see what you post. |

It's just generic melodic trance stuff:
Here's the compressed version

Wow I needed that. I'm just starting to realize how bias I am against my own sequencer and how its really affecting my workflow. Was that your work?
I watched the first version with FL in the background and immediately I was put off by it, just seeing Fruity I CAN'T TAKE SOUNDS SERIOUSLY. For some reason, FLs interface completely ruins my objective reasoning skills.
I was going to submit this:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/5...Electronics.mp3
The kick sounded louder, everything sounded clear and seperated to a level I just can't get on FL, but hearing that compressed version I don't really see a whole lot of differences now.
When you say "compressed" version you mean you have no compression in the original? I never understood what that meant exactly. Or do you mean "mastered" version?
Do you purposely produce with no compression and save it for the end? Just a bit thrown off. This is great either way though, I'm getting closer and closer to that feeling of liberation kit was talking about and I'm realizing I'm actually a lot closer to where I want to be than I thought. |

I jsut realized its a mix of songs. I think this is what he means to propose as what he thinks is "pro quality" stuff |

So sounds like a reference track?, melody is really good/impressive but have some small clarity issues with this track and vol was picking really high (almost burned my ears lol).
Overall lovely track with awesome and very interesting melody line.

Yes you liked it?
Haha I wish. Those are just some reference tracks I use to compare my own with. His tracks are usually really tight and well produced imo. |

I will definitely. I just can't do it tonight.
I started a new track and am about 3 hours in, think I finally made a kick I'm happy with (level wise at least). I'm having an issue layering up the bass so it breaks through because right now even though you can hear it fine its just being dominated by the kick (this is something I shouldn't have a huge problem doing so I don't wanna upload it as of yet).
I need like 2 more hours tommorow and I just wanna see if I can tweak some kind of edge over the bass. Its not actually sounding bad though I can't wait for some people to check it out. Thanks again gents - gnite. |
