Out of amusement. Now, Existo will come along and post something which is even more outlandish because it attempts to contravene his exposure. In his attempt to resurrect the ashes of his exposed troll, he will reify his proposed beliefs with more irrelevant information containing multiple factual inaccuracies and a confusing series of syllogisms. Diginut will read, on his nightly round of the forum - I suspect around 7 or 8 pm, my time - a pile of detritus authored by Existo which, while not necessarily compelling, he will hopefully be unable to resist in correcting with a clinical yet entertaining language on a point-by-point basis. I will therefor be more informed, not only about why Existo was wrong, but about the technological aspects to which Diginut has a particular area of expertise and the Virus, in general.

I will add this to my collection of information gleaned by these altercations I have escalated, just prior to my being signed by a major break-beat label, of which, in one years time, I will become the primary share-holder and CEO; again using many of the tidbits of information you and others have provided me, somewhat unwittingly and to your detriment. Soon after, I will be acquiring businesses outside the domain of EDM music production to expand into areas like house-hold cleaners and cigarette manufacturing. I will hire a high-powered lobbying firm in order to pass legislation which weakens monopoly restrictions while bringing the US economy to its knees.

Owning as much of America as I possibly can, I will become, essentially, its de facto ruler. While I will work neatly behind the scenes of the edifice of the US government, because I hold all the leases, they and by their proxy, you and every US citizen on this forum, will be beholden to me. At this point I will have North Korea nuked from the new nuclear submarine, USS Eddie Zilker (Get it? Deep?), and then demand that the world begin assimilating into a single nation, under me.

And there is nothing you or anyone can do, to stop me. HAHAHAHA!!! (Oh, my God! I'm stuck on this song and am bored - can you tell?)

Nice. But you failed to predict that i would post a random image of some of the ingredients in black chai tea.

Cue dramatic music!

However, with that said, this:

...is neither opinion nor fact. It's just wrong and yet you referenced it at least 2 or 3 times as if that's the crux of your argument. Stating that you don't like the sound of the Virus, or think it's overpriced, etc. is fine, but I think it would carry much more weight if you based your opinion on reality, rather than grossly exaggerated fallacies. Just my opinion.

Take a screw driver out and pop the thing open. See all those expensive discrete components inside? Wait a minute... there aren't any! The whole thing is just a dsp card and a bunch of knobs. Now how much money do you think this costs to make was it 34 dollars or was it closer to 65 dollars maybe? Whatever the case may be the virus costs peanuts to make and is very expensive to buy. Very very expensive to buy. There is a reason why there are really not that many analog synths to buy at mainstreet shops like guitar center. They cost too much too make. When the dx7 came out in the 80s it completely killed the analog synth market. It was much more profitable than those old monster synths that sell for as much as a used car nowdays. Those days sample based stuff used to cost more money partly because it sounded more realistic and partly because ram use to cost boatloads in the 80s. So stuff like Emulators, Fairlights were top dollar gear. So the solution was to incorporate rom in very small snippets at the beginning of the sound and finish of with a standard analog or digital synthesis (most of the time hidden under several submenus), hence the rompler. Soon every company jumped on that bandwagon and there go all the nice synths to be replaced with preset boxes and later digital synths. Trouble is emulation is not there yet in (20 years from now we will be looking at the ''high end'' plug-ins the same way we look at something like rebirth these days) so to hide the cheap toyish overall sound companies use tons of effects and hire the best sound designers alive to help make the box sound impressive at the shops. With that said loads of tracks from the 90s feature all these classic sounds from the virus or the jp8000 (I am partial to the jp8000 :D ) and they did leave their mark at the electronica genre. At the end of the day a good track is a good track sound whether you use something like thor or the v-station an old soundbox or use a fancy ing 2000 dollar virus is irrelevant. What matters is the the actual music. There was a time back in the 90s where you had to have synths like that to produce. Not so much anymore. Now if you like the sound so much that you think that in this day and age it is worth all that cash buy and use the virus. At least you are helping the economy ;)

The Virus isn't analog? Really?

. I had no idea.

Oh my god - my Kurzweil cost more than my Virus did. So, it must be analog, right? :nervous:

:p just messing with ya, Existo. But, you made your point and this horse is pretty beaten.

Funny tea you drink out West there.

Looks like root ginger, cinnamon, clove, cardamon pod and black peppercorns to me.

How refreshing.

Cost of material does not address the cost of marketing and r/d

Here is an analogy. I once planned a vacation to Thailand. I figured the guilt of screwing an 8 year old funboy would cause some erectile disfunction, I got a prescription for viagra. Stay with me. Now these pills cost pennies to make. You aren't necessarily paying for just the pill itself but rather all the research and other costs it took to create the drug.

Now pfizer's viagra isn't the greatest example in that it was created for something else and wasn't really financed as much as other drugs for r/d but had I used Wellbutrin, well I would not of had the opportunity to taint my post with child prostitution.

The point being that stating something is only worth the material value is the words of a half wit. Your shoes are worth pennies, same with every single clothing item you are wearing. Do you pay pennies ?

When I take over the world, the sex tourism industry is one of the first things I'm going to prosecute. You'll be enjoying the lovely, land-mined beaches of the New Florida Penal Colony. It will be a somewhat permanent retirement but there's a lot of territory and being that it will be mostly free of women, a lot of situational homosexuality, too.

Don't drop the soap. Or do, if you're into that sort of thing.

By the time that happens, I will have given the catholic church a good name when it comes to the defilement of the young. Why are you getting so upset ? Asians are really people in the broad sense of the word.

Upset? No. Not on your account.

Was it my plans for the penal colony that has you thinking me upset? Truthfully, it's long been in the offing.

Think of it as more of a punishment for Florida opposed to the human refuse to be sent (or kept from leaving for some individuals) there. As long as you don't try and do anything stupid, like approach the boarders or the shore-line, form a cohesive coalition with political aspirations, or sing that awful "One Night in Bangkok" song from that Chess musical (it would be too ironic to hear you 'rapping' that lyric, "I get my kicks above the waste-line, sunshine"), I'm sure you'll make a useful tool.
