If he feels compelled to tell people how he made his tracks he is more than welcome to start his own thread. You might be a starry eyed kid who is woo'd by anybody who has success but you'll find many of us here are not because we know many people who have done big things or are doing big things.

Who cares? Start his own thread? It's Darude man :wtf: I remember cutting class to go buy that CD back in the day. :wtf:
Stephen honestly talking down people's accomplishments is tacky and disrespectful not to mention very unprofessional. As far as you doing big things... I am not going to comment on that. You are making your self look bad here.

I thought Darude was up there with Chris Sheppard. I just listened to a current song. Still using that same ing lead. Embarrassing.

Boys and their ego. Hehe.
I say Sandstorm was a good record you say it wasn't. Those record sales though... Now that is the stuff producers dream of when fall asleep.
Close your eyes and picture sitting in front of your computer making a dance record that will then get picked up and sell one million copies. One million people will walk to the record store and buy your record.... Then you will get a platinum plaque from the riaa and live happily ever after.

Well.... That is never going to happen.
Never ever?
Never ever. ;)

You are in the presence of somebody who pulled it off here... I know it is hard baby...

I am out this stupid thread. The penis envy level here is a bit too high for me. ;)

Spice Girls sold alot of albums. What is your point ? And I don't quite understand why I should be impressed by his sales. I've met people with alot more sales and alot more awards. He is a mediocre producer that had one hit in a time when people would sign and sell any producer that could make a beat. Anyways, enough about Darude.

where as now, people have a much higher standard of what they will sign and sell?

if you liked Darude 's sandstorm , it was because you were just getting into clubbing and raving and you didn't know better. Anyone that has been listening to EDM previous to 1999 will attest that this track was a tragic milestone.

I disagree there.

At the time, that track was awesome.

Sadly, dance music was never the same after 99.

kinda weird that the preset sandstorm which was on the jp 8000 and came out before the record and sounds identical to the lead in question.

I guess there's a confusion about terms here. Like I said, the lead sound (der der der der dee, as someone so elegantly put back in the day) in Sandstorm is not a factory preset of any synth, it's a based on an old 8 bit sample of an analog bass synth note. The synth string/pad sound is indeed based on a JP8080 preset. To my understanding lead sounds are usually monophonic, or stacked sounds in unison, playing one note at a time, while pad sounds are usually polyphonic, ie. you can play chords with them.

Sorry about not creating a thread of its own for this, but it doesn't IMO need one. I didn't bring this up originally, and I'm not here to tell how I made my tracks, I just corrected something that someone had misunderstood and repeated it here.

Either way, got a mint, yet dusty Virus C looking for a good home in case someone is interested. Plenty of presets of that one used in my productions. ;)
