| Shark Attack in Hollywood? I'm pretty sure there's been one, and Circus appears to be the victim. I know quite a few people who are switching from Saturday to Friday night for clubbing. Any thoughts, or am I way off base? |

I think he's talking about Shark Attack, the Electro Hipster group from down here in SD that gets 3-4 gigs a year.
Either way, he is on a f@cking good one right now; because the more I read his post over the more confused I got |

i can infer from his verbage that he refers not to sea sharks, but to the shark club in orange county.
it is taking away from saturday Circus patrons as friday nights at shark club has had similar talent. so you can check the DJ in OC fri or LA sat or both.
This would also behoove those who would like to check out avalon on a saturday night, but not at the expense of missing the DJ at circus. Now they can do friday shark, saturday avalon. |

In one sentence, he makes it sound like Shark's Club is hurting Circus in hollywood.
But in the next one, he says he "know[s] quite a few people who are switching from Friday to Saturday night for clubbing. " That kinds makes it sound like people who are checking out the talent on Friday nights at the Sharks Club in OC, are now gonna make their night out during the weekend be Saturday night at Circus...maybe just to give it a try. I dunno! Make sense? |

I go to Shark Club way more than Circus since they started having EDM on Friday. Often I can see the same DJ at Shark Club on Friday and drive only 15 minutes (30 minutes round trip) rather than drive 1 hour (2 hours round trip) to LA on Saturday. Circus has a better sound system and a better atmosphere, but the reduced driving time is HUGE (especially when I try to convince my friends to go with me). If Shark Club and Circus were equidistant from my apartment, I would go to Circus every time. Additionally, Shark Club has had free admission for all events since March, which also must be factored in.
However, whereas in the past I would go to Circus ~1-2 times a month, now I go to LMD events (either Shark Club or Circus) ~2-3 times a month. So I am going out more often, but less often to Circus.
If a huge DJ comes to Circus, giving the promise of a big night (like Andy Moor on June 12), I won't hesitate to go to Circus. But if I can see the same DJ on Friday much closer to where I live I usually will take that option. |

| My bad, thanks for catching my typo, s/h/b Friday rather than Saturday, I have fixed the original post (which I typed into the one inch screen using my iPhone on the way back from lunch). I wanted to get the discussion going so as to save EDM nights at Circus, as I fear they may become extinct like the once mighty velociraptor if Saturday nights continue as they have been lately... |

On the other hand, most of the times I've been to Shark Club on Friday the place was packed (it is a smaller venue, but it looks like it is doing well overall). |
