I know how you feel. That's why I don't tip them anymore... |
Many might take it out on the bartender and not tip. Unfair, but reality to say the least. Fifty cent increase might not seem that much, but in reality it's 1.50 increase on the tab, at least in many ppls case. I'm sure many tip $1 for a single beer, but this pushes ppl to give that extra due to how they hand out the change. This is more prevalent as the night rolls on as less are likely to pay attention... and the bars/clubs know this. |

IMO...the music was good 8/10
Went there for PVD. I didn't even mind him playing old stuff too.
As for the Guv ambiance it's just meh. 3/10
Sat in the guv patio and met some interesting people. Sadly sat beside a sketchy asian that puked his lungs out...but mostly I watched ambivalently. The people who go to the guv now, they don't have a passion or appreciation for the dj's or the music anymore. It's just not the underground anymore. I can't say I like it anymore but it is a great place for noob's
(**cough** and the posers and the sketch)
The Guv, just like Ibiza...it's peaked. It's had it's time...and now it just doesn't cut it anymore.
I know some promoters in here will not like what I am writing and (here's an oldskool word that isn't used anymore...they will flame me...because that's all they do in forums now) LOL they will prob be there 4ever and hey..whatever floats your boat, but for most of us...we grew up! Ventured out for better places.
My having been in the scene since it's inception...it gives me the right to voice out my opinion even though people will talk behind each others back...you can't change the fact that I was there when it started.
Smaller venues have a better feel now. Big Venues that are starting out 'before the commercial mainstream takeover tarnishes it'...this is the place to be.
IMO PureTrance and MADE events (Electric Zoo) is where it's at. Definately not the Guv or FW
but don't take my word for it...ask around and listen to what everyone in the underground has been saying. |

i guess you're just getting old. Times change, can't always reminiscence about the past. It's like old people always saying xx used to be so much better and etc.. maybe it was, maybe not, but it's akin to crying about spilled milk |

guv and ibiza had its time? more like you had your time.
times change and if you want to still go to these events then you have to change with it. for you to say the new generation sucks is very unfair just like if the oldschoolers that partied back in the larry levan days say your party generation sucked and called you a noob. without the new generation of "noobs" we would have nothing. |

Emery is the man!!!_
PVD was typical PVD... mainstream crowd pleasers._But Gareth was the man of the night! I've been waiting to see him for over a year, and was really dissapointed when his last show at guv was cancelled due to the volcanic ash. When I heard he was rescheduled for Freedom, I was really worried that it was going to be too big of an event for me to really enjoy and dance, but I was really surprised with how much room there was in the KH. Even during peak hours with PVD, there was tons of room to dance... It was awesome!
Emery was playing some high energy banging tracks, couldn't stop dancing. Everytime i started to leave, I'd walk back for a big track... Suburbain train!
Nice to finally meet the man with the video cam, Francis :)
Great start to the summer <3 |

Unfortunately, the new generation is all about what is hip at the moment and the oldskool tries to relive the past.
Personally, I don't think the new generation has the same love for the music and the minute its no longer cool to listen to it they will stop. Yes there will be a small group that will continue to love the music and will love it till the day they die....on the bright side....I think a resurgence of "underground" parties and music is on the horizon. |
