The music the entire night was spectacular...in every single room but the main room, blech. I walked in/through there 5 times or so, each and every time was a different flavour of crap house. People seemed to like it, maybe I was only catching the ty parts of the djs sets? I mean, Fedde played some seriously bad stuff. Oh, well everyone except Manzone & Strong. They played an excellent opening set. I have never really been a huge fan of theirs, but this weekend is definitely starting to change my perspective (they were AMAAAAAZZZZZING at the zone on Monday morning too). I'm glad I've been continuously giving them another change to do it for me. :) Ovi was sick in the Orange Room, but he's always sick. Skybar opened SO late (SO annoying, I got there right at 10 on purpose to see Jayforce and waiting to get up there was frustrating). Anyways, when I finally got up there to see him he was AMAZZZZZZINGGGGGG as always. His energy levels are ALWAYS off the charts, I love it. I was annoyed that he wasn't on the bill for cz monday, so I'm glad I still got my Jayforce fix for this weekend. :D All the locals at this event were just giving it. Fantastic job by everyone.
The Kool Haus...ok. I really don't know how to describe, considering the way the end of PvD's set went. He played older PvD style, hard pounding and FAST. I love PvD so much because he plays trance at a proper speed, none of this 'less than 140 bpm' bull. Some didn't like his set, but I loved it. I really missed him here in Toronto, I know a lot of us did. It makes it more of a special treat to see him since he doesn't come very often. The best part of the night....and maybe of my life...was him playing For An Angel (NOT the meh newer remix). This is the ONE moment musically that I have always dreamed of hearing...my absolute favourite track being played by the producer himself, not remixed (but I thought it would never happen, or I would have to travel to Europe to see him maybe). When it was coming in I couldn't believe it, stood there paralyzed with my mouth hanging open and promptly turned into a blissful emotional basketcase. Absolutely unbelievable. Words cannot even begin to describe. Only got better when he played Crush 2 tracks later, followed by Time of Our Lives. During his set, he actually had a great energy coming off him too. Usually he stands there looking serious while he spins, but I saw lots of smiles and even a jump or two from him. I will never miss PvD, thank you for bringing me into the scene. :) :D <3
Gareth I have seen twice before Sunday, and he was good but nothing special (probably b/c they were both opening sets). Apparently third times the charm. He was fantastic. Amazing closing set played by him, lots of amazing tunes. He in general has really good mixes, minus one god awful mix that wasn't even really a mix (kind of sounded like another set was turned on). At least the second track was SvD-Renegade so I still got enjoyment out of it! :) I will definitely be seeing him again.
Incredibly successful Freedom this year, I can't wait until the next all access AFTER Canada Day (what is up with that lineup? eek very disappointing). Damn, I can't stop replaying that moment over and over in my head. :D |

+ 1 on all the PvD stuff. I made it in w friends I came with then promptly lost them RIGHT after. Ran into a billion other people, great partying w you all! I was floored as well at hearing For an Angel (Heard him drop it only once 9 years ago in Guv mainroom as an encore track). Did I also remember hearing "Another way"? I was pretty tanked so it's not for sure but I swore I heard it. |

For an Angel from PVD was very unexpected, didn't expect him to play that classic track of his that I was googoo gaga for when it first came out more than 10 years ago now?
I'm pretty sure he also played Insomnia which was unexpected from him (at least for what I thought about what he plays)
KH was fun and not too crowded, mainroom was a zoo. Also saw the flyer out for Canada Day. Benassi and Deadmau5 were the headliners, I'm gonna skip since not a big fan to get trampled with the amount of people that will showup.
I remember last time Deadmau5 was here (just at Guv) and it was insane line to get in.:nervous: |

I thought it was a pretty solid event. I wasn't planning on reaching until they added Gareth to the bill but overall it felt like good vibes pretty much everywhere I went. Liked what I heard from PVD and Emery, but when I left for a smoke and came back (around 4:30, maybe a bit later) they had shut KH down already  I'd heard good things about Chuckie so I made sure to check in; honestly I didn't mind it at all aside from his mic antics. GF got fed up with it and dragged me somewhere else, lol.
+1 on the search... let's just say the girl really thought I might be hiding something under my balls. She didn't check my wallet though, as others have mentioned. I've had this happen to me once when I went to a particularly ghetto club earlier in the year (they even checked the change pocket in my wallet) and I thought it was nuts. Oh and after the thorough search there's still a metal detector. I had tickets and got there about 11:30, the KH line really wasn't that bad.
Canada Day lineup was the first thing I saw once I walked in, man what a disappointment. After Ferry and friends last year I was certain I'd be attending. Funny how I ended up going to Freedom and will not be going to Canada Day now. I guess with Deadmau5 there it's a guaranteed draw, no need to put too much thought/money into the others. Disappointing, regardless.
Also +1 on the $4 waters. I actually did get some loonies in my change, and a bunch of cups of ice a little later in the night, but I ran out of money suspiciously fast.
One more thing... I might be crazy but I only saw three freezie-girls the whole night. For some reason I was fiending them hard and running around seeking them out, to no avail. Got some eventually though, orange freezie ftw |

I'd like to think that I had a hand in his playing For An Angel...
When he signed that pic for my wife, I had him write For An Angel on it and if he played it, I was to call her because it's her fav track and she couldn't be there. So he said he see...
SO YOU'RE WELCOME EVERYBODY!!!!

I wasn't out for the trance on Sunday so I can't comment...PVD is nothing special to me and Gareth Emergy was right when Roger Sanchez was and for me its THE DIRTY f'in SANCHEZ over EMERY ANY DAY ;)
I can't believe the PVD fans forgot this TUNE....MASSIVE imo
Paul Van Dyk - Nothing But You (Super8 & Tab Remix) which was nice to hear again, he played it at Reso in MTL too
and oh i was there for Mistral like everyone else lol it was good to hear that live again :)
Dirty f'in Dutch house is where it was at...
Chuckie minus the annoying mc'ing antics played a sweet opening set. Lots of energy and LOTS of good tracks, he played a remix of some David Guetta new track to be honest it sounded pretty good. Yes we know this is your remix and who you are Chuckie the man needed to get off the mike ASAP....
Fedde played a banging set and this guy CAN MIX!!!! wow lots of fun tunes he played Fedde Le Grand Feat Mr V - Back & Forth (fedde's future funk remix) sickkkkkkkkk :p
Sanchez was AMAZINGNESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I CAN'T BELIEVE Sanchez dropped some of my FAVOURITE f'in tracks of ALL TIME!!!!!
Underworld-Born slippy (I think this was fedde's bootleg???)
Supermode- Tell me why :eyespop: :eyespop: but just before he dropped this i left for the KH to see some friends and I MISSED OUT!!! :(:( so pissed!
Chemical brothers- Hey boy hey girl (dirty secretz bootleg 2010)
I had a great time....SADLY couln't get to the skybar so didn'tget a chance to see Carlo LIo.....whoever was playing the Drink at 2:30 was playing some bumpin tunes...we waited in line for skybar and decided to get back to the main room since it wasn't moving.
Great thing about this party there was always room to dance... to be honest i can't be bothered to notice anything else but the DJ and the sounds of the tunes so i have no comments on the crowd or the slimes. Good friends, good tunes a great ING night of good f'in HOUSE MUSIC!!!!! |

| it's been $4 waters for a long time, but goodthing is you can refill it with cold water at the taps in the Koolhaus...the Guv's mainroom washroom has the lame push faucets with no temp control, so if you don't want to pay $4 for another bottle, you get yucky warm water that takes forever to fill. |

First time at the Guv for me, and I finally understood what all the hype is about!
The first time walking around seeing all the different rooms is definitely an experience! I loved how every part of the club feels like a totally different place, and it's all really beautiful. It feels like they really went all-out for all the decorations and decor elements.
My buddies and I had driven from Montreal for this and it was an amazing decision. While we enjoy going to Circus, Guv is on a whole new level. And partying from midnight to 6am is absolutely perfect IMO (as opposed to 3am-8am)
After walking around for a while, chilling in the Skybar and catching a bit of Chuckie (and seeing him chug like 5oz of Goose to "Let me sip my drink") we went into the Guv for PvD. Gotta say the time between midnight and 12:45 when PvD finally came on felt agonizingly long.. That DJ before him really lacked energy and the whole crowd entertainment factor..
Anyways, as expected when PvD came on the whole atmosphere in the room changed instantly. It was my first time seeing him and it was exactly what I expected..Solid crowd pleasing trance, no complaints at all. I actually got a good laugh out of the laptop crashing incident... PvD being one of the most technically sound DJ's in the world, it really shows that this kind of can happen to everyone! My favorite part was when he played "Home" and then transitioned into Rank 1 - LED There Be Light right after... 2 of my all-time favorite songs! Got a good video of it, I'll be posting it later.
As for Gareth, well he was great as usual. Typical banging trance that won't let you sit down! I think my buddies and I probably rested for a total of 5 minutes over the 3 hours he played.. And what can you say about this guy's energy behind the decks!! Everytime it amazes me.. the guy really loves what he does for a living and it shows. It's hard to pinpoint one best moment from his set, but I remember I had the biggest ing smile on my face when he dropped "On a metropolis day".. Not that it was surprising or anything, but it's such a good song and to hear it live with my 3 best friends right next to me just really felt like "a good day" ;) I gotta say though I was surprised that the room had emptied this much for his set, which in a way was all right 'cuz there was tons of space to dance, but I was really wondering where the hell people had gone! Anyways, every who was left was really into it so it wasn't a problem at all!
So overall, fantastic night for me, seeing two of the world's best DJ's in a real world-class club, doesn't get much better than this! No doubt I'll be making the trek to Guvernment again in the future. Cheers everyone! |

| Oh yeah and one other really cool moment... Although we were in the main room for less than 20 minutes the whole night, we happened to be walking through when Fedde dropped SHM - One, which has been our party anthem for the last couple months.. We went nuts hahaha, rushed to the dancefloor like it was the apocalypse and just jumped up and down for the whole song.. good times, good times... |

He uses software that is one of a kind and Kool Haus Hardware just couldnt handle it! as for him being boring! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! He Banged it out! PVD will Always be Original and so Pure and Natural. He will be always ahead of the Times...Dont Hate on a man that is a Genious when it comes to Music! |

Haha that's true...
Also, don't know if anyone saw what Gareth posted on Twitter after the show, but basically he said that he had tons of problems with the decks the whole night and that it was time the Koolhaus got some newer ones. I remember thinking a few times during the night that the sound was off (too much bass) like when he played Exposure, you could barely hear the melody over the bassline! I was so confused 'cuz he plays this song at every single show, you gotta believe he knows how to make it sound right lol.. |
