My condition hardly taints my opinions regarding many of his posts. I don't like him for many reasons including foremost his continuous unapologetic display of idiocy insulting others which is not so troubling to me but it is rather the complete lack of effort on his part to at least make the insults entertaining. Instead, I have to read homophobic dribble from the worst type of idiot, the one that went to school , did not learn a thing who's secret power if you can call it that is the ad hominem. He embodies what I hate about the USA. Racism, sexism, the failure of the educational system all infused with that that ing confidence that makes a harmless even cuddly moron into a full blow head. Being stupid isn't a crime so I would never wish him to go away but like a well adjusted balance, his stupidity is linked to my vocal disapproval. This is why I don't enjoy his posts. This is why I am perhaps a little aggressive towards him and this is why I will continue to make funny remarks at his expense. Or until he finishes his "rolling bassline tutorial"
And despite all this , i've helped him many times. In a way , he is a child and a treat him that way. I will help him when I can but I will bitch slap some sense into that feeble little excuse of a noggin when it is warranted. |

It isn't something that really broadcasts itself. The problem is I can't for the life of me find a thread worth contributing. Maybe it is that time of year but every ing thread is some topic that has already been covered. So yes, when I take a 15 from work and feel like practicing writing, it might seem that way. I've been on here since 2001. I've helped in more threads than I can count. I can answer any theory question on the planet or talk about structure and motivic unity but everyone just talks about that has been discussed over and over.
A troll is someone that has no value to the community. Just like diginut is perhaps the computer guy m, RANN is the audio guy well I am the music theory / composition guy, So don't call me a troll. Ask me a question and I will stop messing about because honestly, any apparent trolling is just boredom and me trying to make myself laugh.
I think part of the problem as to why this site is a little static pertains to the limited scope of the genre. Trance is not really changing and most of the leaps in production aesthetics are happening in other genres which unfortunately don't get addressed. So instead of talking about interesting concepts, you get Robby talking about intangible cryptic babble that makes me annoyed. |

+1
I suspect your issues with Dr. Roxxo have to do with the that aspergers have to put up with from typically minded people who tend to color their decisions with emotion opposing rationalism and then attribute their decisions through logical syllogism to ideas attached to their emotions. A great example of this behavior can be found on Hell's Kitchen, where it's obvious what persons made which mistakes when, at the end of the show, Ramsey asks for which two people and why. The answers are almost always universally vague and only loosely related to whatever infractions may have actually occurred (unless an infraction was particularly despicable and therefore more memorable).
Dr. Roxxo demonstrates this behavior in spades. He dances around the crux of any issue he raises but when people start getting close to it, the goalposts seem to shift in murky relation to the problem which is both apparently real, yet nebulously framed. Add to this the antagonism couched within the issues he presents with, never-minding the ease with which these problems could easily be resolved, and he becomes a polarizing influence.
The people who identify with him will take his side. The more ignorant they are about a field someone who knows more about it than Dr. Roxxo, the more likely they are to derive offense when someone posts a response smashing the vagary in DJRobbieRox's posts. Meanwhile he peppers his posts with every sort of indisputably stereotypically white male bigotry coupled with the aforementioned 'confidence', emblematic of narcissism, and DJRobbieRox couldn't paint more of a target on himself if he were lazing a mirror, five feet away, to be acquired by a recently released JDAM 2000 lb bomb.

Many of the producers in this forum aren't necessarily 'trance' adherents. That said, I've noticed a bit of a chasm in the ratio between the ultimately intelligent discussions and the fruitless ones which go no where but seem to devour most of the attention.
E.g. Someone posting a "tutorial" YouTube which actually doesn't even address the issue it's supposed to pertain to; and if it does, it does it so poorly that there is more to teach the tutor than the tutor would have taught.
E.g. 2 Someone asking how to emulate certain artists: Sometimes it's fun to help them but most of the time it's assisting simplistic ambition coupled with selfish slothfulness.

M4B's what I would describe as a casual troll. He's not always trolling like Existo22 or osterzone. DJRobbyRox is what I would describe as a classic troll. He is a good troll, too, being that he generates more replies and in those replies is a diversity of responses. He brinks the forum rules while drawing others into achieving unwanted attention from the moderator. |

i would love to no more about theory, specially about your knowledge on it brad, unfortunately i dont know which questions to ask yet ...
i did pick up the dummies guide to music theory a few weeks ago though. :haha:
i knows its not absolutely neccesary to make a track, but it does help a ton. and it might be the reason why i have never actually finished a track yet.
this forum has been around for ages, so of course this question might have been asked before, i just wanted to know peoples experiences learning a soft synth in the present.. |

Richie, I would love nothing more than for you to educate us about theory.
I am only partially being facetious in that comment. I think you probably know more than most on this board about it, so if you want to be seen as less of a troll and more helpful, why don't you write a couple of tutorials on more advanced theory topics, and I'll come and discuss them with you. I'd like to know more about theory, I don't really think there's any point in you coming into a thread and claiming that everyone is n00bz lolz becuz they don't undErsTandZ teh vStiZ |
