Israeli soldiers accused of aid flotilla theft
The Israeli military is investigating accusations that its soldiers stole laptop computers and other equipment from pro-Palestinian activists on board the Gaza aid flotilla .
The accusations on Thursday add a new and embarrassing twist to the raid on the convoy, which claimed the lives of nine activists from Turkey and sparked sharp international condemnation.
They come only days after the army was forced to defend itself against another public backlash, triggered by the publication of private snapshots showing Israeli soldiers posing beside bound and blind-folded Palestinian prisoners.
Both controversies have hit the army at a particularly difficult time, with a fierce internal battle brewing over the succession of Gabi Ashkenazi, the chief-of-staff.
In recent days, public attention has focused on allegations that senior officers drafted a forged document intended to embarrass a high-profile contender for the post. Mr Ashkenazi, who has won widespread praise for his tenure, was reportedly aware of the document for several months, but failed to intervene.
The latest allegations concerning the flotilla theft surfaced in Yedioth Ahronoth, the Israeli daily. The newspaper reported that military police on Monday arrested one officer suspected of stealing four to six laptops from the Mavi Marmara, the flotilla flagship, as well as three more soldiers who are believed to have bought and sold the equipment later on. Police arrested a second officer in connection with the probe on Thursday.
The paper quoted an unnamed military official describing the case as "embarrassing and shameful".
That assessment was echoed by several politicians. Eitan Kabel, a member of parliament from the Labour party, told Israeli media: "This is an embarrassing, humiliating and infuriating act."
The Israeli military declined to confirm details of the case, but said that "it is not certain that the equipment indeed originated on board the Mavi Marmara". The statement added: "The matter is currently being investigated by the military police criminal investigation commission and we cannot therefore provide any further details at the present time."
The aid flotilla marked the most ambitious attempt yet to break the Israeli embargo on the Gaza Strip. However, the boats were taken over by Israeli naval commandos in international waters and nine pro-Palestinian activists were shot dead during skirmishes on board.
The remaining 700 passengers were brought to Israel and sent on to their home countries. At the time, there were numerous complaints from activists that laptop computers, telephones, cash and other items were never returned to them. |

Since the begining of time they've been kicked out of every country they've been a part of because of their ways.
WHY CAN"T THEY JUST CHANGE THEIR WAYS? IT'S NOT SO HARD!
And then they STEAL land through NO FAULT of the palestinian people.
Oh let's not forget about the holocausr. But PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THE PALESTINIANS HAVE TO DO WITH THIS? THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG SO WHY SHOULD THEY HAVE TO GIVE UP THEIR LAND?
They'll probably be using the holocaust excuse to get what they want for the next couple of decades or so. And if anyone disagrees with what the jews want, they'll be labeled an ANTI-SEMITE

See that always makes me wonder, why and why are you keep doing what you are doing? How much more do they want to be hated by the world? And the fact is once the US pulls the plug they are done (military speaking).

I honestly think that they are completely blinded by their actions or they just simply don’t give a about what the world thinks about them. That mentality will cause more and more hat towards them.

Sadly this is true. They have been able to get away with so much because of their past and the Holocaust. I believe the world is finally beginning to see Israel for it really is and countries are beginning to stand up against them slowly.
What scares me the most is these nut jobs are seriously considering going after Iran. If that happens, the world will change very quickly. Israel doest understand logic and negotiations and does not follow any international laws and that is very scary. |

Yes you are right, Israel is loved by everyone in this world and I'm wrong.:o Come on dude..
If Israel continues to act like a god damn bully they will continue to be hated around the world. I feel so abd bad for some of the sane people that live in Israel and have to put up with their government's bull all the time. :( |

You'd be surprised how many random searches of civilian homes they have. They go through all you're belongings.. you're lucky if everyhting's still there and intact. |

They don't expect moral respect. They're respected for their military, economic, financial, and politcal influence. I actually admire them for being able to stick together so well, but I'm disgusted of how they go about it. |

To me when you treat your neighbors like animals and wage war on them just so that you can survive I lose all my respect even if you are doing well economically and financially. They do not act like a peaceful/demoractic country at all. War war war is all they have in mind. |
