lol, I just read this post while on the train into Manhattan with huge headphones and reflective sunglasses on

true. i saw another girl with 7506's on the subway a few months ago. i wanted to give her props for wearing quality cans but it was rush hour and we were going opposite directions.

I wear my 7506s when I listen to tunes on the go because my glasses frame make smaller headphones uncomfortable. Ear buds are not for me. I personally think they are gross.

Maybe it's just because there's so much freaking noise to drown out here, but this thread is the first time I've ever heard the notion of someone looking like a douche for wearing massive headphones. idk, as a music enthusiast, nothing makes me want to ask a person what they're listening to more than when I see they've got quality headphones on. Only headphones that I think make people look kinda douchey are Skull Candy (but that's mostly just broke teenagers), and Beats by Dre (just for spending $300 on a $100 pair of headphones).

Still, I've yet to see anything more douchey than full grown men wearing Lady GaGa earbuds :whip: :sadgreen:

lol. im sure there are a ton of rich brats who would listen to poker face on repeat using 800 dollar cans

i'm looking for headphone recommendations
I've been reading up on stuff online and a lot of people suggest the sennheiser brand. Which sennheisers would you recommend? I am also considering the Grado SR 60/80, though I'm not sure how I feel about having open headphones as I'll probably be walking around campus w/ them etc. How loud is the escaping sound? Would I look like a douche? Should I care?
And w/r/t other headphones you might recommend- the price-range of those 2 is what I'm probably aiming for. Not more than $150 I'm thinking.

Sennheisers are great for their price. Not that they're an "economy" brand in any sense, though. Quality is spot on.

I had the Grado SR-80s. Since they're open, yes a lot of sound will leak out. They sound AMAZING, but a bit uncomfortable for very long wear as the inside (flat edge) of the cans presses against your ears.

I use the Sennheiser CX 300. Awesome as hell. Earbuds tho.

what/which sennheiser pair do you like?
and about the sound leaking - how loud outside compared to volume i have in ear?
thanks

ya i'm not ruling out earbuds completely, but idk i just don't like having earbuds in my ears for long periods of time

i have the sennheiser hd 595's which are ultra comfy and sound great, so i'd recommend them from personal choice.

it's a trade really as i think maybe was posted earlier? open is best for listening quality, but also you get outside noise and sound leakage.

they grados do let out a lot of sound. if anyone is sitting next to you, they'll definitely know what you're listening to and the high freqs will travel quite a ways. some lady a couple rows away on the train once asked me to turn the volume down cause she could hear it.

You can get the ATH-M50s for about 100 USD if I'm not wrong.

Great sound , and it isolates pretty well. Doesn't really leak noise at all.

It has pretty powerfull and deep bass , a slightly recessed mid range and a IMO 'natural' treble.
It's foldable too , so it's kinda portable.
Doesn't really make you look like a douchebag too.
