I think it's ridiculous that this has happened to Wade. Sure he's overpaid, but he was one of their better defenseman. Unfortunately, people in Ottawa started getting on him and then people in New York started reading it. They didn't even give this guy a chance. If the Rangers had an offense and a powerplay then Wade would be a healthy plus instead of +8 and would have around 30 points. Still overpaid, but not the worst player ever. Most teams have offense and there are quite a few with decent powerplays.
Drury should be the one down in Hartford. He blows on offense, defense, faceoffs, as a captain, etc. They could have dropped this clown, kept Betts, Sjostrom, Moore, Ortmeyer, Gomez, Zherdev, possibly Antropov to go along with Gabby. LOL, but I guess it's Redden's fault because he can't "run the powerplay" even though he's never done that. |

they needed to get back under the cap...this decision is 100% financial. He cleared waivers, so 0% of his salary counts towards the cap...this loophole will be closed up in the next CBA.
Had they bought him out, half of his salary would count towards the cap, the same if a team would have picked him up off waivers.
He is pretty ed either way...not much to do on his side. |

if i had to take a shot in the dark, i would say that del zotto is the cheaper alternative to be the qb on the pp.
looking at the full rangers lineup as we speak...if henrik both of our teams will be battling each other at the bottom rungs again. at least you guys have 3 mill in cap space though.

yeah but redden was never a qb. pp up in ottawa had a nasty group. mdz was awful defensively and i find it hard to believe that he will turn -20 into a positive. plus redden was seeing minimal pp time anyway. rangers might have a first line if stepan is the real deal, so that could mean slightly more offense, but their d could be questionable if mdz, gilroy, and some of these other young guys start seeing massive ice time. not only that, last year their team d in their own zone sucked ass. won't know until the season starts though.. |

have you seen Ryan McDonagh play? We gave him to you guys in the Gomez trade, and i didn't understand why at all. Hopefully he sucks and i was proved wrong.:p
Gionta named captain, and Alex Auld is the worst goalie in the nhl. |
