Oh yeah, they called it the "Electric Daisy Rave" in the story. NICE

That is definitely a more apt descriptor than "Carnival"

Wow EDC was all over the local news channel last night. It is very likely that EDC 2010 would be the biggest EDC ever in Los Angeles, either they are going to start putting age limit next year, or they'll move the venue. They show needs to go on so I doubt that Insomniac will stop EDC.

Talking about Insomniac, just some random topic that came up last night while I was talking to a friend. What ever happened to Giant and GoVentures? Didn't Insomniac always have a collaboration with other promoters in the past? I mean Insomniac has always been the main promoter, but I remember seeing Giant and other promoters like Go Ventures, 2AM, etc. have some part of it. On the website a few years ago, Giant was presenting the neon Garden, while Insomniac was presenting kinetic Field (or vice versa). We were looking at the EDC booklets (artist schedule(, and we don't see any other promoters besides Insomniac.

With that being said, here comes my conspiracy theory *drum rolls* about EDC. :D :D :D This year was the 14th annual EDC event (4th time in Colloseum), and each year since 2006 EDC has attracted 100k+ people, who mostly were under-aged kids. It doesn't come to a sense to me that the media suddenly jumped into this. They could've reported this last year, or the year before that. I remember seeing an article last year on LA Times, and that was just IT. One damn article for the whole two days EDC event. No coverage on TV, no coverage anywhere else. I say this has something to do with the break-up between Insomniac and Giant.

Does anyone know what truly had happened to Vanguard? Some said that Insomniac and Giant got into a fight. If that is the case, someone is getting jealous because someone is not getting the piece of pie that they had been getting in the past, and probably used the media as a tool to fight back.

On this article in LA times "More than 100 taken to hospitals during Electric Daisy Carnival", http://www.latimes.com/entertainmen...,2328291.story, the last paragraph is clearly directing the blame to Insomniac: "The Electric Daisy Carnival was held from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. both days and was open to ages 16 and up. It was produced by Insomniac Events, an L.A.-based promotions company that also hosts a similar New Year's Eve event."

But then again, I am nobody, and my conspiracy theory is just a theory... :eyespop: :nervous: :toothless

Insomniac & GoVentures work together on Together As One. I think that's pretty much it and has been that way. Monster Massive is GV only. Insomaniac does EDC, Nocturnal, and works with B3 (though maybe just for namesake) with How Sweet it Is.

Giant did their Giant Village with TAO once, I believe, for S&D, but other times I think they just hosted a tent or something. But never a big part of a massive with Insomanic, I don't think. I could be wrong. hehe.

Giant & Insomniac seemed to just mainly work together at vanguard. Giant still threw its own bigger (21+) events w/o Insomniac, too.

etd.POP was all over the local news up in SF, too, after the incidents there. Don't hear anything about a consiracy there. I am sure the local media down here was keeping a close eye due to that and was ready to jump on anything.

there is literally no venue in southern california that can handle 185,000 people, its too many people. the coliseum is as close as you are going to get

they should just limit the ticket sales like every other music festival (but they wont because greedy s)

if they limited the tickets to 100,000, or 120,000, or something more reasonable than 185,000 then they wouldnt have to worry about getting shut down
DaveT
Is the 185,000 number for just day 2 or both days? I'd assume both days.

just some food for thought for these discussions:

limiting the ticket sales or cap to 100k people....supply and demand...you know what means, double/triple the price of the ticket price.

part of the EDC success is due to the fact that it has been taking place in the middle of LA. if its moved to outside la, i doubt it will attract the same number of folks.
pnutttty
185k over two days.

seems like all the craziness only happened in the coliseum no? i saw videos from the other stages and they look like good ol' edc from years past. i would be real satisfied if i could just be there in the neon garden all night saturday. too bad i couldnt go!

you know what i think? I think Will.I.am killed the vibe/rolls... with him yelling every 2 minutes on the microphone had probably gotten everyone cranky

Ha ha!
That is so true! I'm sure the news forgot to clearly emphasize that eensy little part about lying to go to the "rave"

Rushers like this make it hard to go and enjoy music.
Maybe better luck next year.... or not
