lol. these kids must have it nice--no curfews or anything? when i was 16 i wasn't even allowed out close to late enough to even THINK about going to an event like this. tis a damn shame...

Unfortunately it often takes a calamity of some sort to make things change. So many of us on RL have been saying for a long time that these events should be 18+. The sooner the better!

It will be interesting to see what the legal ramifications will be for the promoter. Could a wrongful-death civil case be coming...

From the L.A.Times article:

"Doctors said "her sodium, electrolytes were so low that when she started replacing them so quickly [with cold water], ecstasy messes up your body's ability to process that, so it threw her body out of whack," said Keith.

Sasha passed out, hitting her head on the floor. The friend who was with her tried to shield her body but told her family that the venue was so crowded, people stepped on them."

This is called hyponatremia. Tragic.

This might be a blessing in the end, 18+ or even 21+ would be amazing, and I dont care if it would be a smaller venue.

ridiculous. the media has and always will sensationalize and use the scene as a scapegoat . gotta love the media.

nature of music being the cause? gimme a freaking break.

how bout banning cigarettes or mcdonald's b4 targeting "raves" i'm pretty sure those kill a much higher percentage of users

I don't know how Europe does it, Love Parade in Germany has over 1.5 mil people there. I wonder if there are casualties there

I'm not sure if 18+ will even be enough. etd.POP up in SF was 18+ with all the stuff going on.

Think this is gonna lead to a state-wide thing in the end...

When I was 17, I had to sneak out the window if I wanted to go out.

Dave, i think POP in SF was 16+ back in may. Lovevolution after party that's 18+, which is why the bill graham event is much better IMO :)

Love Parade was cancelled largely due to them not being seen as non-profit or whatev by the various cities in Germany so they were forced to pay for everything, mainly the cleanup cost...which they couldn't afford.

It was never cancelled because of issues with the crowd.
