[REVIEW] Markus Schulz @ Opera, July 7th, 2010 (pg. 2)

This being my first time to Opera, I actually began having a great time...until the incident with Hagen---I was there, watched it all happen(we were all at the same table, Markus' table.) It definitely seemed overboard by Opera staff---but since I wasn't directly involved, that's all I will say.

Markus' set was fantastic, as usual---I've said this many times and I'm saying it again---Markus is on FIRE right now. He continually impresses me with every show...making it worthwhile everytime I travel to see him.

The infamous ID was my fave track of the night---I can't seem to hear it enough---gives me goosebumps!

It was great meeting a few ATL TA's...hope to be back down soon.

While we're on the subject of Opera, I saw this on facebook:

"I was really looking forward to Markus Schulz last night, and he played a really good show. BUT - I went outside to sit down for a moment and there were no chairs available, so I sat on the stairs. A security guy told me to move, and I did and sat somewhere else. He came up to me AGAIN and said, "You can't sit down. That's what we sell VIP Tables for." Upset, we moved inside, where I was leaning on a wall, and a security guard AGAIN told me I wasn't allowed to do that!

I'm a little angry that Opera's attitude is more about the almighty dollar than their guests (what if I had been sick, hurt, dehydrated or overheated and needed to sit?). I LOVE the shows you bring into town but I HATE Opera. I am really considering never attending another show at that venue again after last night."

I witnessed no such thing, but I'm not surprised... you all heard me bitch about a similar debacle at WetBar (and most told me to STFU about it...), but am sorry it ruined the night for some.

It was great running into so many folks, though... I'm still laughing that LeeAnn told me to get a room =P

Was that you making out with your boyfriend throught out the show? I wanted to say hello, but most of the time I saw you, you were preoccupied. Lol That is true guys. You all defended Wetbar to the death even after Maggie told her story, what's the bias?

Look, I've never liked "clubbing" and I hate the usual people clubs bring. I'm there for the music. And also, everyone I've met from here has been really cool. This sounds pretty bad and I doubt it is an isolated incident. I am curious though what exactly the exchange was though. Not trying to question this Hagen fellow, but it seems like we aren't hearing the whole story. He never explained how things went down. I mean, was he just chilling and all of a sudden was grabbed and taken down? I see a lot of people acting like a fool at Opera and any club for that matter. I think a lot of the bouncers act like douches, especially at closing time. My experience with them, as I said in another thread, is my least complaint about Opera. For goodness sake, last night one actually personally led me to the correct line after being very polite when I accidentally got in the 95.5 line. Then another one picked up my keys for me after I dropped them. Even at past events, the biggest problem was being hassled to leave at 3 and after I told him I just wanted to shake Ferry Corsten's hand he backed down. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something. As said before, the people that show up to these things are what have ruined nights for me. If Opera didn't attract the types of people that it does, I would venture to say we could all handle it better.

He said in a previous post that he's going to save the rest and get a lawyer. I'm sure until the case is over, he's just telling a judge what went down.

No way in hell was I waiting on Hagen to get beat up, but you know I've wanted all this to get exposure for years!

This is NOT the first time that this has happened, but it IS the first time they've messed with someone who won't stop at a post on the Internet about it!

Fight the power.

Rise up.

Save the princess.

! Why did Opera have to go and do this on ing Markus Schulz's night! I ing hate that place so much. I'm really bummed about this now...I wish everyone had been able to enjoy the night as much as I did because I had a ing blast for the first time at Opera since the last time Markus was there... :(

On my flight after the show I re-listened to the Moscow World Tour set a couple of times and I'm pretty sure Markus played these:

M6 - The Flow (Skytech Remix) (Markus Schulz Big Room Reconstruction)
Scott Mac - Damager 02 (Mac Zimms Remix)
Skytech - Cardboard Box (Ummet Ozcan Remix)
Artento Divini - Griffin

I'm not 100% sure of course, but I think some of those techish IDs were those tunes. If people have vids from the night, maybe they can post. I don't think he played Gaia - Aisha though...or at least I don't remember hearing it.

I hate opera... I loved Markus. I'm so sorry to Hagen, Maddhatter that this happened to him but hopefully something good will come out of this.

Nice to see you all from Charlotte again!

Not sure what kind of problems have been had at Wetbar when it was under that name. I was there quite often and eventually knew most of the staff by name. They were all wonderful. Its just sad to see the days of big clubs in Atlanta have come to a halt. People don't go to Opera to see music (the majority don't); they go because they see the image of this celebrity style atmosphere, and for most people, that is really all they want out of life.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that. No matter what different tastes we have, most the people on this site go out for the music alone. These people who go out for that "celebrity atmosphere" are the ones who ruin it for everyone.

You don't remember Maggie's story of how her friend got beat down by security for taking a water bottle out of the venue at Wetbar. I never had any problems there, and it did seem like a superior venue, but I'm sure it has it's share of dirty laundry too.

What show at wetbar? That really is unfortunate to hear

He definitely played those as well as Faithless - Not Going Home (Armin van Buuren Dub). I was pretty drunk but of these tracks i'm 100% certain.
