I don't disagree, but this site is pretty much built around the forums here, not a fancy front page.
A fancy front page may do quite a bit to get more people to join the forums though (especially considering the random splash page/lizard thingy).
I think what you're talking about is to have TA as a kind of music portal, right? But with the forum/community backing it? |

i would get rid of the frog TA pic gateway at the beginning. it's hideous imo, and looks so dated, like the site hasn't been updated since 1998 haha. furthermore there's really no reason to have that when you could just link directly to the main page, sans the pic (why waste time clicking the picture gateway to get to the main page?). hell, the main page just needs a huge overhaul. it looks like it was made with MS Word: it uses times new roman, ffs. might as well be using comic sans :P
also, have you thought about updating the forum layout/button design? or the TA guy design? i suppose some may call that blasphemy for breaking the tradition though (like during halloween when every n00b says "OMG the TA scary guy's eyes blink!!1")
and if bandwidth is no longer an issue, perhaps updating the downloads area with more recent tracks/livesets? maybe dump the essential mix collection that you've amassed for senior members (like, custom status seniors) to have the privilege to download? it would give incentive for the potentials/lurkers to join/participate and encourage new members to become more active.
also, i'd remove the FAQ section. del, have you seen that section lately? it's the equivalent of a spam-bot c0r. maybe remove the polls section as well, and give every senior member (again, custom-status senior) the ability to post a poll in its place. and the shoutbox idea isn't a terrible one, either. i think that'd be pretty hilarious in some instances. |

The search feature is my only real major gripe with this site. If you could improve functionality of that I'd be happy.
Please note, if you do end up changing the design of the forum, would it be possible to have the original/oldskool look as an optional skin? I'm set in my ways with this sort of thing and like the look and feel of how it is now, although can appreciate that others may not.

Quick Reply option....this is a great asset on vBulletin
the search function needs to fixed...One thng i noticed is that if you want to see topics started by a board member, one has to go through entire history of a select forum to find all those topics start by a board member
Rep Points...seen this on another board where members can give postive or negative rep points for someone's posts/threads |

These never, ever amount to anything.
In fact, most message boards don't use them because you can attach a comment when you negative rep someone. So moderators get tons of PM's saying people have flamed/threatened them through these negative rep comments (which the mods can't see). |
