Say cheese?

A former Israeli soldier, who is being criticized for uploading photos of herself in uniform smiling among blindfolded Palestinian prisoners on Facebook, said she did nothing wrong.

Eden Aberjil, 26, said her decision to post the photos was thoughtless. But she said she was surprised that so many people were offended.

"There's no violence or intention to humiliate anyone in the pictures," BBC reported her saying. "I just had my picture taken with them in the background. I did it out of excitement, to remember the experience."

She titled the photos "The Army…The Most Beautiful Time of My Life."

The pictures were taken in 2008 and show her posing happily with Palestinian detainees. In one, she sits crossing her legs, next to a blindfolded Palestinian man slumped against a concrete wall. In the other, Aberjil is smiling with three blindfolded Palestinian men whose hands are bound.

The comments below the photo included jokes and sexual innuendoes.

"You're the sexiest like that," one friend wrote below the photo.

"I wonder if he's got Facebook," Aberjil responded. "I have to tag him in the picture."

Since the backlash, Aberjil has removed the photos. The soldier said she has been receiving death threats.

Army officials said the pictures were "shameful," and that they would investigate the incident. Palestinian groups have also denounced the photos. And several have likened the photos to those taken in 2003 by American soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, which showed U.S. soldiers humiliating naked Iraqi prisoners.

It is not clear if any official action will be taken against Aberjil because she completed her required military service

Oh don’t get me started on Israel. This is disgusting and the fact that she really doesn’t think she did anything wrong shows how retarded most of the IDF soldiers are.

Hmm I wonder how you would have felt if this was the other way around? What if this was a Palestinian fighter making jokes and taking pictures with the Israeli prisoner in the back ground ?Palestinians would have been bombed a million times by now.

They are both disgusting. Isreal shouldn't ask why they are hated by the muslim world. It is because of morons like her.

Posting photos like that ON FACEBOOK is a very stupid decision. I thought it was only a blonde thing, but I guess not.

That girl was very stupid, childish and arrogant. And for that she'll have to live the rest of her life, under the threat of death - she's already receiving countless death threats.

Surely the photos are not very bad, to be honest, but they are very inappropriate in a tense political and social climate of Israeli-Palestinian relations. Yes, the photo does show the negative nature of prisoner treatment, and I can see how it can become explosive. The girl basically added gasoline to the fire with her commentary, too.

Inappropriate, yes. Disgusting, no. We would have to be ignorant fools to think that some people fighting "wars" do not feel a sense of accomplishment and victory if they detain the "enemy." People back in the days used to show off decapitated heads of their enemy as a sign of success and people are shocked (and too P.C.) to think that a soldier wont smile at a detained enemy?

My point is, that this picture doesnt shock me in the least....
