Thanks for taking the time to share though. I got a good feel for the experience especially with the videos and pictures. Cheers.
Your video shows he's got an awesome vibe. He's definitely feeling the music and knows when to tweak a knob for maximum effect. I would have liked to see him get into the mix a little faster at the end though. His Fabric CD slays too.
Not sure if you partied when you were younger, but if you did, do you remember seeing the older contingent at a party looking not quite out of place, but just...older. Now that I'm there I just look around and notice how everyone is - you guessed it - younger.
Last year I chatted up some almost jailbait at a party where Twonz, Alan Oldham, and Kenny Glasgow were spinning at the Basement and she said she was into dubstep - followed by 'I really like this kind of stuff too'. Promoters need to reach out to more girls like this and expose them to underground house and techno. |
Thanks. I'm glad you liked the review, pics and vids :)
I think I was 21 when I really got into this scene. I know most ppl got into it even younger than that... It's really strange when one day you look around, and you realize you're one of the oldest ppl at a party! lol Kind of depressing. And it's true, the older club goers seem to prefer techno, and house. The new generation of clubbers seem to be all about electro, dubstep, trance and mash-up. The younger ppl at Electric Zoo tended to stay away from the techno tent, they had no interest in it whatsoever! And if they were in there, I'm pretty sure they didn't know who they were watching, but at least they were checking it out :) |

Agreed! It was great having so many people from Toronto there to party with. It seemed like everywhere I went there was someone I knew. |

Ya, I was just happy they were able to finish! lol I saw how frustrated they were too.
So, were you there from the beg. then? Do you know what track they opened with? |
I don't know what the very first track was, it was a long build up kind of thing without a kick drum or bass. Might not actually be a track they have released and more something they worked on as an intro. The first track after that was Galvanized. It was pretty sick.

It's more relatable for them I think. They start getting into dance music to party and I think it's easier to feel that party vibe when it's high energy type of stuff like electro and dubstep. Techno is a bit more... subte? Though the Sunday School tent def. wasn't all about the older gen. I'm only 21 and my friends and I spent a good deal of time in there (some of them being as young as 18). Can't speak for all of them but I knew every single DJ playing. |

I guess the crowd just seemed older in there, in comparison to the other tents. I'm glad you and friends enjoy techno! :D |
