talent tends to fizzle. Knowing you aren't talented and having discipline will go far. Of course when you have both. It doesn't hurt.
I've always viewed my self as quite normal in talent but rather everyone else is really untalented. I mean when you compare yourself to a fat overweight wallmart clerk, you don't say to yourself, damn I am like so much more smart than her. I think most would just assume they are at baseline level and this specimen is quite deficient but if she were a dog, she would be rather brilliant.
Basides, the price you pay for super talent is a certain level of sanity. So do you are your brother like liquid tag ? |

| i don't know . just you being jealous of how your brother dances like you actually dance at home and practice with glow sticks ala liquid. Liquid tag is that gay ravers used to do where one person dance then touch the other person and then they have to start dancing. You've never seen that ? |

Oh that.
And yea, very much would like to dance like my little Bro (when I say little, he's 6ft 3 and built like a Seqoia). He makes some music too so we compare most nights. He's like you, pretty brutaly honest, and he said that latest tune reeked of mansex, so thats 2 of you, and on listening back I agree, but mmm I've always thought a lot of Wendo Carlos - she'd appreciate a good solid lump of tune like mine, but I'm trying to de- gay it a little - perhaps you could redo the vocals cause my own neck cords are strictly YMCA? |

I accepted that a while back - elbow grease and ear muffs all the way.
There was a big American study released recently where the academics argued there is no such thing as talent, only exposure. Now I happen to think there is such a thing as talent - my youngest Brother was born an awesome dancer, I wasn't, but I think elbow grease is nearly as good. |
White people cannot, CANNOT DANCE LIKE BLACK PEOPLE. THIS IS A FACT. IF YOU DO NOT THINK ITS A FACT, WATCH ANY WHITE PERSON TRY TO DANCE LIKE BEYONCE AND YOU WILL LAUGH. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOMEONE PROVE ME WRONG. IT DOES NOT COUNT IF THE PERSON IS HALF BLACK OR ANY PERCENTAGE OF BLACK. IF THEY ARE ALL WHITE AND CAN DANCE LIKE BEYONCE I WILL EAT A SOCK. |

Do not be sad. Me and my gay ravers friends can certainly accommodate your baton. Batons are becoming more and more accepted at raves these days. |

| I can crip walk like I'm from compton but I only use it to mimic black people in a racist way when i'm drunk. I can also slide glide like usher and to a pretty sick moon/air walk. And i'm very white. But I would agree most white people have no rhythm and certainly cannot transcend that rhythm to their limbs. You can test this empirically by going to a white church and noticing how they clap on the wrong beats. I would say you need a certain body awareness, sense of rhythm and as any sort of artform, the ability to know when something sucks. You also have to be aware when you look cool and when you look gay.Sometimes dancing great will make you look extremely homolike. |

That's not really like Beyonce though. She doesn't do any of that. I've seen several non-blacks do the glide/back glide. |

Well to be fair right brain dominant people also tend to be good dancers.
I'm not saying I'm a good dancer just because Im left handed, but I'm better than every single person in my group of friends and they are all right handed.
I've also seen enough black people dance terribly to know thats not 100% true. Maybe on avg they're naturally better, but I don't think its anywhere near as significant as you'd think.
Many of them also have a totally different style of dancing in general than white people, almost like you see guidos fist pumping, a lot of black people tend to have more rhythm under the waist (overcompensate by moving their legs too much). You never see a black person doing the robot cause it involves too much coordination above the waist. Ask them to crip walk however and most of them can do it pretty well.
But in the clubs a lot of them still look like they're cripwalking... and not even dancing. Their upperbodies freeze and they kick their feet like they're kicking dope.. which some prob are... but as far as being 'better' anyone can learn if they try.
The only thing black people are proven to be better at is running, and thats kenyans, but saying black people are better dancers is as true as saying asians can't drive, or irish can't cook, or that jews are all money grubbing christ haters who are going to destroy the universe trying to get rich... =/
..ok maybe blacks are better dancers. |

never would of pegged you as a left.
I'm a lefty but for some reason , I had this obsession with being able to be ambidextrous and since grade 3, I would change the hand I would use every day. I also started playing drums as a lefty but changed to the cross over position that righties use as it looked cooler. I did this for so long that it become more comfortable than my natural way. I always suspected that left and right handed behaviours were for the most part learned but apparently there is research proving it is in the genes. Another theory that is accepted is that it is decided in the featus and you can tell what hand they are by which one is close to the mouth. Of course to me , this just seems like a learned reinforced behaviour.
anyways, I can send written death threats and they can never be traced as I will just use my right hand which looks rather different. I think that was actually the impetus. |
