Yeah, I mean that's obviously a concern, but I don't like to bulk my iPhone up with a big case. I figure it's just technology and if it breaks I can get another one, but using it without a hulking piece of plastic covering it is worth the risk for me.
edit: This might be different in the case of an iPad, obviously. It's a little more expensive plus you'd be using it as a computer, basically.
Friends of mine that have iPads use the covers that flip over like a notebook to reveal the screen, if that makes sense.
Yeah, different uses. The only places I will definitely be using it are
A) At home (no potential danger)
B) Conference table (no potential danger)
C) At homes under construction (HIGH potential danger. Transporting it in a car loaded with boxes/tools, then leaving it around a job site with a lot of careless people with sharp and/or heavy objects in their hands, and a lot of contaminants in the air.
The bulk really isn't an issue, if I can make it completely Redneck-, Mexican-, and idiot-proof. The cost of the unit, itself, isn't inconsequential (hell, it was $700), but the thing I'm more worried about is breaking it an hour before I'm meeting with somebody for the sole purpose of demoing/tweaking/selling the software on it. We have everything backed up on the servers, but I don't want to have to carry two of these things around with me.

What I have in mind is a full-body shell, so that, when I'm not using it, the screen has some sort of impact protection.
Example: I bring it out to a house and leave it with the rest of my stuff until the client arrives, but someone drops a hammer or drill onto it. Zagg shields can't do anything about that.
Oh I see. I guess that's the one to go with then.

I assumed that the screen wasn't actually protected with that one (just the body). The two pieces that bolt together are the back and the front ring afaik. I'm waiting on them to answer that question now...

Thank you, Stu! This is exactly the type of thing I want a case to protect against.

Yeah man, random blending accidents are the worst.

Well, it could always fall into a can of paint with a mixer running...
