I love how some people form childish attitudes about a large group of people based on a relatively small but highly visible minority. |

This thing is awesome. Put it to use on Friday @ work for an unrelated task, too (referencing pictures + a little PDF annotation). Unless you're rich or have a legitimate reason with which to justify the expense, it is pretty pricey (especially once you factor in the eventual cost of apps), but it really is handy for what 90% of what people do on a computer, and has all sorts of more advanced uses that would otherwise require very specialized or cumbersome equipment.
Back to the cases...
I'm down to these two [for work]:
Otterbox Defender
Pros:
-Most durable case available
-Easy usable in Landscape or Portrait mode
-Fits in a backpack
-Reputable case mfgr.
Cons:
-Not theft-deterrent (at best, looks like a toughbook)
-Heavy - 12 ounces (50% of iPad's weight)
-Not easily removable - stuck with the work case all day
Hard Case for iPad
Pros:
-HUGE theft-deterrent
-Easily removable
Cons:
-Very bulky
-Has to be closed to protect the iPad (if dropped while in use, it's worthless)
-Made by 'Schulz Plumbing, Inc.'
I had been leaning toward the Otterbox, but the Hard Case is appealing, in that it prevents me from being stuck with the bulk of an ultra-protective case all the time, and because, as they mention, "nobody wants to steal your clipboard." I've been using the iPad a lot at home, mainly because of the form factor. In the end, I'll probably still go for the trusted ol' Defender, since it is the only one of the two that offers protection from falls at all times, but what does c0r think? |

i hear jobs is unveiling iTurd at his next convention. it's a special turd that contains magic which is why you'll pay $400 for it instead of plucking your own from the toilet. |

I thought that, of all people, you would admire the work of the underdog plumbing company in this, the great clash of proprietors of prevention, but alas. |

I cannot lie, I like the idea of the Schulz invention very much - more so than the Defender. However, I think taking it out of the case frequently would be very annoying and the bulk would be a hindrance too. However, you could put cool skateboard stickers all over it. OK, you've got to go with the Schulz box on this one. |
