He could also just learn to fly and buy his own plane.....see there are solutions.....if you really don't like being searched then you can find alternatives....using these planes isn't a right.

gotta love that logic

pretty soon the TSA will be jerking you off to see if you're hiding any deadly substances.

This isn't about really about security, it's about expanding government powers so that they can seize more drugs and other "undesirable" items. Unfortunately the majority of people are so all-consumed with the ridiculous idea that trying to forcibly confiscate everyone else's weapons will make them safe, that they can't see the very obvious ulterior motives at work.

I find this shocking myself but I actually agree with your point here.:nervous: :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

havent they already implemented having a security guard/ officer with a gun on board flights? as well as always having the cockpits locked

Lets take the air india bombing for example. Having large guns on board the plane would have done nothing to prevent the event from occurring. The issue is airport security and having universal baggage screening procedures. Don't try to kid yourself that they are doing this all for the drugs. Drugs are a great industry, they make money, you'll always be able to get drugs, Hence why we still have the hells angels everywhere in the clubs whilst the police are aware of it.

I've never been patted down by security. I've had to take my shoes, belt and jacket off but that is common for every airport. Even in the US I haven't had any real problems with security....I guess I'm just not threatening enough.

Someone's probably said this already (have not read the entire thread) but it's probably that you just don't set off the metal detector. I always remove every last metal thing so they have no right to touch me. Can't remember the last time I had a pat down at the airport.

Nice, free hand job, and to think some people PAY for those...

Margs: I'm not saying they did it on purpose (w the pee bag thing) but b/c these procedures are new and overreactions happen the transit authorities should have been trained properly and thoroughly before being sent on the job...

well, a lot of people should get better once they get some experience. like, after a while, you do notice who looks a bit sketchy and who's not.

that is also depending on whether the security boss types get their heads out of their asses and stop being so anal

With the new regulations, you have to go through the full body scanner or opt out and get a pat down, if randomly selected. Nothing to do with whether you set off the metal detector or not.

Is this rule for Canada only?

I went through three security gates in 3 airports (including one US) yesterday and only got a pat down in the one where there was no metal detector (gooooo el salvador!). I did not get pat down going through Canadian security either (about a week ago)

If that's the rule it does not seem to be strictly in place. In Miami, I went through the metal detector, did not set it off, and did not get a pat down and that's on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
