I'd rather opt-out and be fondled (sucks that it has to be a dude touching my nuts) than going through that death-ray xray :p
Actually... I am surprised more people just go the airport in a bathrobe and just have their tight-whities on and a tshirt lol

Whats that tilting she does with her head/neck. Looks like something from that I, Robot movie.

Anyone traveling over the holidays? I'm really not looking forward to this part of my vacation :(

Just had my first opt out on Sunday! Canadian flight YYZ-YVR, didn't even have to take off my shoes in security. A hybrid of American and Canadian regulations. It went well, no one was annoyed or anything.
Will opt out again A+++

Did they not give you evils for not using the death-ray? I have heard of intimidation tactics to dissuade people from a pat-down. How long did it take? Did you opt to do it in public view? Back of the hand, or a handful of balls/boobs? Your glowing review almost makes it sound like you were turned on by the whole experience! :D

No intimidation tactics. Security wasn't busy at all. This is the first time where they actually asked me before hand if I want to go through the scanner or opt out and be patted down (and they looked like they expected a 50-50 chance of opt out). I was asked public/private, chose public. No cupping, but very close to that area, and a pat down of buttocks. Very thorough, even felt the bottom of my shoes. The whole thing took about 30-40 seconds I guess.
Note that this was the Canadian side and not the TSA, so that may explain the politeness of this situation.

Cheers for the reassurance. I hope the Americans also adopt the same level of reasonableness.

I have yet to have a problem with the TSA other than... dealing with the pricks at LAX... missed my plane because of them. Never, ever have a connection in LA. Worst IDEA EVER!
OT: US Border people... Treat me like a threat when I try and drive over the border, even with the Nexus pass. Hello... you did a background check on me you ing idiots!

IMO i find it necessary. Even tho airplanes are the safest way to travel but with the highest rate of casualties,i mean is not likely to go down but when it goes down it goes down fast and deadly.
it could be anyone from a crazy terrorist to a suicidal lover.
Nobody wants trouble except the people causing it.
trouble is bad! Its bad for everything it costs a lot of lives a lot of dollars it cause chaos and governments naturally will go to any extent to prevent it.
part of their job is to maintain order.
