Mad for Brad
Sort of strange to see a complete studio with no reference books of some type. Kinda seems completely unused. It seems quite weird to have the nearfields eclipsing the reference speakers flush to the wall.

yes true, he mustnt use them that much I guess..

I assume he probably set things up for the photo op based on what he thought would look nicest, not necessarily how he actually uses them day to day.

too bad there is no window at the front. I'm sure the material is expensive but Being able to look out at some snow would make it really relaxing. I have a view of a part to my left and there are always people around and it weirdly makes you feel not quite trapped alone in some room.

I'm in a basement... I'm lucky having a little sunlight in there. :)

more kinda bunker style..

Having a view is much more relaxing and sane, but I dont think is a good idea for sound reflection..

i dont know if this is a repost, but its a awesome look inside of the mans studio, and he goes into detail on how he and benno go about making a track.

i liked how he claims he hardly touches any of this stuff, and that its all ITB.

anyways its a good read for anyone that is into production.

I actually believe that he doesn't touch any of this stuff - every working studio I've ever been in has some form of mess, wear signs, funky personalised layout format, little idiosyncracies, personalisation etc - it's all so neat and clean and as if someone walked in to guitar center pro and said I want to buy a studio so I can take photos of it.

I think so much of that is for wank factor alone, but in fairness every studio does it to some degree, however do I think his has a rather high ratio.

As for the underground statement - it's complete BS. He knows exactly what he is saying, who will view it and in the grand scheme of things there are only a couple of people in EDM who are less mainstream than him. When you have to mention Guetta etc, you've already lost the argument.

And no, it doesn't matter about your grandad not knowing him, he's in a music publication that has previously covered the studios of many EDM producers such as Sasha and Charlie May - you don't catch them making such assertions do you?

All of this aside, I actually like his stuff for going to the gym...

i have all the sunlight/windows i ever need in my "studio" but unfortunately i dont have a desk so it doesnt do me any good. i do have a couch though so theres plenty of inspirational listening going on. good thing i have a laptop instead of a workstation.

A photo with a Mac book Pro with Logic opened, Benno working and AvB sitting in a sofa with a bottle of whiskey is what happens every day, sofa isn't in the photo.

Seriously, everytime he previews one of his tracks or compilations all you can see switched on is the mac with logic so i think you're right.

what else do you need really? besides better speakers and soundcard. and a bar.

i'm almost sure that if i buy a really good and expensive piece of hardware it will be covered by dust in 2 weeks , my perfect and realistic studio would be something like:

- Amazing computer with Logic and all the synths i'd ever need (Z3ta and Sylenth most notably)

- Wooden mid-size and pretty cold studio (i hate working with heat and machines and lights just give you more heat) , not very tall ceilling.

- A beautiful landscape, preferably with beach and nature and a lot of windows to look out.

- A full fridge with drinks both alcoholic and not alcoholic, possibly some weed mmmm not, weed always.

- A bed to cover my sexual needings/sleep ocasionally.

This is perfect, who wants an intricate modular synth that will get you mad before making a good sound.

The only thing i honestly need of that gear is the monitors and possibly the computer
