i dont know if this is a repost, but its a awesome look inside of the mans studio, and he goes into detail on how he and benno go about making a track.
i liked how he claims he hardly touches any of this stuff, and that its all ITB.
anyways its a good read for anyone that is into production.

Explaining why he is so generic and unoriginal and encouraging people not to innovate.
| quote: | | You kind of go with the flow. DJs won’t play your record if it doesn’t sound enough like the other records, because they’re building a set and they’ve got to rock the crowd. So no matter how many hours of production you put into it, if it doesn’t sound a little like the previous record or the record after it, then it’s not going to fit, and they’re not going to play it because it’ll make their set sound really weird. So doing research is extremely important |
The "underground" part is a joke but i can understand him, if you compare him with the true Mainstream aka guetta or Tiesto he is at least different, no black singer vocals and farty basslines.
I like also how he refers to kids, that kids have done better music than you sir. |

I totaly agree with this part;
'Let me tell you something: ES2 in Logic can make almost any sound you want. Maybe there’s a few analogue things it can’t do, but you can always emulate those in other ways. Benno has proved to me that you can make 95 percent of any synth sound you want with ES2. You don’t really need more than one synthesizer if you invest some time in learning how to work it'
and
'“One of my biggest tips would be to restrict your gear choice, because there’s so much out there; restriction is good!' |

I agree with this. I'm quite suprised how good ES2 is. I have no problems using only the stock plugins of Logic if I didn't have other gear :D ( the logic compressor is pretty good also )
If you know what you are doing, you can make some sick with the stock plugins :) |

| i'd only pick the front desk and a keyboard, like himself says too much gear isn't needed and is a waste of money and space, the screen is a bit small, with such a gear i'd expect 2x 40' or so in his studio |

I see he has it setup simular to my studio, I wish! :stongue:
About the tiny monitor screen, I went from 2 22" screens to 1 24" screen and it made a huge difference in workflow - just worked better for me. |

Yes I'd say anything below #1 on the DJMAG is more mainstream. Yet they are less popular. |

how can anyone be creative in there? looks as stiff and boring as a dinner with the prime ministers cousin. it explains why he is so though, his previous studio was much better!
| quote: | | You’d be forgiven for raising an eyebrow at the ‘underground’ part of that description. |
how could he ever claim to be underground, has he no integrity left? what a douche his about the most cheese this planet has seen (lately).
oh and if someone tries to use the envy-card the only thing i envy is his money. if thats what he manage to do with his income i feel really sorry for him. probably the least creative man ever. his furniture looks ikea, wtf is he doing?? :wtf: :wtf: |
