I would argue that Islamophobia belongs in the same drawer as Nazi phobia fascistofobia and marxismofobia.
If you do not sympathies with fascistic, repressive and totalitarian ideologies and it absolutely must entail a name ending in-phobia, I am proud to have both Islamophobia, Nazi phobia fascistofobi and marxismofobi.

Here are a couple of views from someone who's lived in Sweden:
Back in the early 90s, all immigrant people/families were well received, were given a place to live, money for furniture, given help with learning the language and so forth. Sweden was and still is a very tolerant on the verge to ignorant country at times.
As time passed, many more immigrants started showing up. As the system got over saturated, the conditions offered by the country that I have described up there, started deteriorating, but not to a far great extent. Sweden still offers a decent social help so that everyone has some income.
From the late 90s, things started to change. Due to the fact that many immigrants are living into "immigrant-only" neighborhoods some started to act violently and others followed.
At the present day, immigrants stand for most of the thefts (my friend's family's house got robbed twice in october 2009 by non-European immigrants), they throw rocks at police cars, they lit houses on fire, they rob Swedes of their money on the streets, they oppress Jewish people (haven't heard much about it, tho, in all honesty).
Add to this the low prison sentences, the fact that some are invited to trips around the world for therapeutic treatment (I you not) and regular Swede's calm manner.
Most of them can simply not adapt to the lifestyle of Sweden, and as they see the tolerant face of the country, they take advantage of it.
They simply create violence and tension - and I've experienced trouble with them myself.
Now, the fault isn't only theirs. There are tons of well-behaved, well-educated immigrants, both European and non-European that have a hard time in Sweden.
Where the Swedes seem very nice and friendly at the first glance, there has always been a bit of nationalism involved there. Many times it doesn't matter who you are or what you're capable of, but when your name comes up for a job interview and it is not a Swedish name, it gets put aside ASAP.
Also, many ethnic Swedes won't want anything to do with you and won't allow you into their circles (unless you're a tourist, of course).

This has been my experience as well.
We have in Denmark, an extremely bad experience with the immigrants already been let into the country - mostly from Muslim countries and Arab and Middle Eastern countries.
The reluctance has nothing to do with fear or prejudice, but is solely based on common sense because a longstanding experience clearly shows that there are some people who simply can not or will not integrate into a modern Western society, nor can adapt to the cultural patterns and values which are valid here.
It's not a question of we're better than them or that they are better than us. They just do not fit into our society, and should therefore be in Muslim countries, where conditions are much more consistent with the way they want to live.
And then we can live as it suits us, instead of constantly being exposed to immigrants countless demands and wishes for special treatment and the demands indicating that WE must adapt ourselves to THEM.
Welcome to the future: where the racism card is used EVERY time there is someone who speaks the truth about the Muslim immigration and the religious aspects of it, and the overwhelmingly negative impact it has on the Nordic societies.
If it makes any sense to someone that one's country should be transformed into a totally different culture, i would recommend to seek psychiatric help immediately
If the only response is that you are a racist if we do not accept a religion which is medieval in many respects, then it all chalks up to a wall of denial and slanderous "cards" being pulled EVERY time you just try to tell the plain and horrible truth.
There is a very good reason that political parties like Sverige Demokraterne in Sweden, Dansk Folkeparti in denmark and Geert Wilders Party for Freedom are growing so rapidly. |

Nou, you're talking out of your ass. Again. Have you ever even been to Scandinavia? And why do you assume he's a christian because he's from Denmark? I know maybe a handful devout christians, or anything that comes remotely close to the christians in America.

What about white Muslims; are they raping left right and center? I need to know... who am I supposed to hate; brown people, Muslims, or specifically brown muslims? Also if brown people then which brown people... Mexicans are kinda brown, do they count? If Muslims then which Muslims? What about secular and/or non-practicing Muslims... they rapists too? |

I know of one white muslim in Norway. It was a big sensation news headline. |
