Humor attempt:

Hello Mr. Lira. I rarely post here but just wanted to stop by to show my condolences. It is an unfortunate event. You're right, talking does help. However, I do recommend some type of liquor (I don't have to say in moderation because you are a moderator).

I found out last year that my best friend from childhood was killed in a coasteering accident in england. I was mortified.

This is something else, this was caused by another person. I feel for you Lira. I pray you find peace in this situation.

when i was 16 a close friend shot himself in the head while 4 of our other mutual friends were sitting in the kitchen nearby. it was an extremely difficult thing for me to come to terms with. I don't recommend liquor.. however i do recommend you meet up with some friends that knew her too, (if possible) they're pretty much the only people who will understand what you are going through. i'm so sorry lira, that's alot to take in. I hope your friend is at peace.

closest I can come to this is a friend of mine committing suicide over the phone.

That was pretty metal, actually.

Obrigado pelo apoio, pessoas :)

Sorry for the delay, I decided to see a friend and then went to "my special place" (corny, I know) by the lake so I could meditate for a while. I thought for a moment about the last afternoon I spent with the couple, and how they had shown some interest in the book I had with me that day... it's so ironic that he could've used some of the Inuit stoicism. However, as I usually do, instead of bothering them with cold arse philosophy (literally, in this case), I spent the afternoon telling funny stories and cracking jokes. We had a great laugh, and I'd often coach her on Facebook with her final monograph (she was about to graduate)... and it's so bizarre that her life was interrupted so brutally... , I'm still catching up with the fact that someone I know is on the first page of the local news:

Attempt to restore a relationship ends in death in North Taguatinga

An attempt to restore a relationship led to the death of a couple in North Taguatinga this Saturday night.

Witnesses said the state patrol Sérgio Ricardo Honda, 40, arrived at his ex-girlfriend's place, the university student Kátia Lie Yasunaga, 24, with roses. There was a debate and they locked themselves up in the bathroom.

Around 8:45 PM, Kátias mother heard three gunshots and asked the nearby Police Station for help. The policemen broke in and found the couple dead.

Kátia was shot twice with the bullets fired by Sérgios .40 pistol, which he used for work. One shot just scratched her chest, and the other entered the neck and went out through the chest. The state patrol was found with a shot wound in his head.

Kátias mother was taken to taken to the hospital in shock. The father of the girl, who arrived after the crime, also had to be sedated.

According to friends and neighbours [and I second this], Kátia had a very calm life and studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Brasilia [that's where I study and where I used to work]. Sérgio's workmates considered him a tranquil person. The case, which has all signs of a homicide followed by a suicide, is being investigated by the 17th Police Department.

Sorry about the broken English, I'm tired and feeling weird. Thanks for the support... I'm actually more worried about her mother (who's a very emotional person under ordinary circumstances) than about anything else right now. Here's a picture of her, in case anyone is curious, I reckon it fits the thread:

:p

You've no idea of how much I wanted her to write something back and convince myself that it was just a hoax...

And, no, I'm actually closer to her mother and her brother, but she's someone from my social circle, so I used to see her every now and then. I must've talked to her in person at least once last month. We chatted for a while, I made fun of something she had posted on Facebook, and then I went back home.
