A friend told me the police was tasering into the crowd.. Anyway, for him it took a very lucky turn. One of the security guys was getting fed up with the situation, saying "fu** that" and let some of the remaining people in (about 20-30 people) and gave them VIP bracelets.. :)

I myself didn't notice anything of all this going on. I had a before 5pm ticket and got there in time.

An article with some vids of the disturbance near the water.

http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/ript..._mafia_crow.php

Kind of a sensationalist article, and this was outside the venue so not sure why it was called the drunken SHM crowd

Someone made a good point that the black dude was on a public beach and the security guard really doesn't have the right to detain him. He's not a cop. Not that I'm defending him. I think a lot of FAIL was happening all around.

I got there around 4ish and in about half an hour later. There was no order in the lines, it was basically just a free for all. I really wish I had gotten the open bar VIP when it was released since there was so much more room up there. It was an absolute mess when Dirty South, Pete Tong, and SHM got on. Literally a stampede of people nonstop that I couldn't enjoy it at all, I left around 10pm to go and get ready for Morillo @ LIV.

In my opinion, the production was top notch but the size of the crowd and constant pushing of the 18 year old kiddies was annoying. They sold way too many tickets....

the open bar ticket and vip were two totally different things. had you bought open bar you still would have been stuck in the crowd with everyone else.

i got there at 3:30, got in within 5 mins, and other than seeing cops and security rush inside one time and come out 10 mins later with some dude oding i didnt see any commotion.

went in and out of the tent without much issue for most of the day. front left side wasnt bad at all. but 5 mins after shm came on i just left the tent and sat down outside. i just had no effort left to be fighting with people for a spot.

the only things i didnt like was there needed to be more bathrooms. although each time we went around to the backside and never waited for more than 5 mins. they also ran out of beer pretty quickly which is just unacceptable. and there needed to be more sound around the entire area. the sound was only up front and that was kinda lame.
diabloargentino
what a party! although i was underwhelmed by the SHM set, calvin and DS rocked it.

great venue, but Pat is right on a few points. sound in the back was lame (which is why i was in the front cluster most of the night). bathroom was a JOKE. i had to go from literally the front railing to the back of the entire venue to get to the bathroom, and still had to wait on the bathroom line for a bit.

the SHM stage was beautiful - WOW! took a page out of daft punk with the triangle shape. i'm hearing mixed stories about what went on outside around 6-8PM. people being tasered, not let in etc. on the other hand, my buddy got inside at 8:15 with no problem. maybe he beat the madness.

im upset about the 2 hour SHM set. they said they were doing their own party instead of ultra 'to not be limited by a short set time' - they played an hour and a half last ultra. all of this for only 30 more minutes? lame.

overall, i had an amazing time. it's their first time doing it, so i'd expect a lot of things to go smoother next year. and preferably play a nice, extended set for their fans!

*EDIT* just watched the youtube videos about the outside of the venue. i'm not sure which side to take. honestly, if people knew how to act in public and didn't show up drunk, on coke, on acid, on e etc. then they wouldn't make fools out of themselves. you have to realize that security/cops at these venues are massively outnumbered. sure, they abuse their power plenty of times, but if a legit rush through the gates happened, it would have started a bigger problem and might of shut down the entire event.

the fact that 95% of people inside the venue don't know about this means that they, in a way, did their job. why they stopped letting people in, etc is beyond me. if they oversold it, then it's the production company/SHM's fault, not the security in charge of running the door. it would be better if no one had to get tasered, peppered sprayed, etc..but i can understand why.

once again, if people were a bit more patient rather than quick to jump to conclusions/get angry/fiesty then i'm sure plenty of this could of been avoided. it still sucks to see/read about people traveling so far and not getting in with a ticket in hand. they had to suffer based on other people's errors. plenty are to be blamed here.

just dont expect this to ever happen again on the beach.

I was there are 4pm and had no problems getting in. The gates were clear marked so I don't see what the confusion at the front gate is all about.
lounger540
Then it went down hill fast after 4. At 4:30 the signs for lines were useless bcs it was all one big group in the front that merged into one line where we walked to. It didn't really seem to be moving at all. I think before they completely closed the gates they were only letting in people in small groups as people left. Of course not many people were leaving at that point.

edit: Checked with my GF. She said we left @ 4:30 but didn't get to the line until 5:15, and waited while it didn't move for 2 hours before the craziness started.

this is exactly why i went, it was going to be the last time it happened on the beach

honestly i thought Halloween was better but still an overall good party. Open bar wristband for the ing win. I had to get at least $400 in drinks

I got to the willcall line to pick up my open bar wristband at 4:15, got the band at 4:45. Then got in by 5:15. The line was getting bad but honestly I did not see anything that was described but i am sure it happened

Calvin Harris, Dirty South, Pete Tong were all good sets, perfect for the environment. Not my cup of tea but really neither is SHM. Its just a great party which is why I went.

look how they made it that much harder to get in before 5pm if you bought one of those tickets

Ok my first post was off my iPhone in the cab after leaving so I'll tell you what I experienced and know.

We went to the Cosmic Gate boat party so we headed over afterwards. Around 8. We had "Anytime" tickets as we bought them the first day they were released (ironic). I couldn't find will call so I asked a security guard and he was a huge dick. Probably because he had been asked this question a thousand times already tonight but still, it's somewhat his job to answer these questions.

Anyways, he told me in so many words it closed at 5. So at that point I was just befuddled because I had bought 3 tix and I was with some others that had Hard Tix.

We then noticed they weren't letting anyone in, and they claimed they were three times over capacity (which I found hard to believe but w/e)

They also said earlier there were small riots. I was talking to a Fireman civilly (I was sober along with everyone else I was with) just trying to get some clarity on the situation. Then some douche came up and started screaming " you" blah blah blah. So we, as mature individuals felt we needed to get out of there ASAP before got out of hand.

We tried going on the beach to listen to the show but the police were making people vacate that area as well. At this point its 8:30 and we decided to cut our loses and leave.

I heard from a credible source that one of his friends and others dug a hole in the sand and made it under the fence at some point.

I've contacted Wanttickets about a refund, and if you're planning to do so I'd so do it quick because it must be within 5 days of the event. Since I never even had tickets I feel ok about my chances of getting a refund rather than some who have physical tix (how do you prove you never went in?).

So many people can take blame for this. The promoters, the group themself, and the fire dept. At some point all of these groups had to know this was going to be too big, especially Want Tix. Fact that SHM hasn't even offered any apology is a bit ridiculous as well, but what are you going to do.

they scanned your tickets at the door to make sure they were authentic. first time ive seen this. so im sure they can tell which tickets were actually used and which werent. sucks though for people who bought tickets through a third party. basically nothing you can do then.
