Nope.

I don't understand what the big deal is.

I'm feeling fairly similar. I didn't wake up to watch the wedding, nor will I bother with highlights. I recognize that the relentless coverage is a sensational news story that detracts from more important issues. But by the same token, I think it's always nice to see people who are happy and smiling--it can work as a cultural injection of happiness. Of course, others will perceive it differently, but I think it's important to celebrate things. Without celebration, what's the point of our existence?

And while I think the coverage and analysis is over-the-top and silly, it'd be hypocritical of me to chide those who enjoy all of it seeing as I'm a huge sports fan, and sports are more or less a sensational news story detracting from more pressing issues as well. Sports are similarly a celebration of what humans can achieve.

Well said. I don't really give a about the hockey playoffs, but I'm not going around telling people it's a waste of time to watch.

While I did not get up early to watch it, and am not nearly as stoked as others about the wedding, I will still be watching the replay tonight. I love the history and tradition surrounding it, and agree with Jon that it's a significant event in history happening in our lifetime that will be talked about for years to come.

Also, for those who say they don't care, you obviously cared enough to open the thread, read it, post in it, and for some of you, continue to argue about why don't care. Obviously there are people who do care and want to talk about it, so why don't you go talk about something you actually care about somewhere else?

This could be said about so many things, some of which I'm sure you and other haters would think are big events in your pathetic life that others think is completely insignificant.

This is a huge day for the British people and you can see how happy it makes most of them. Why be negative about it? If you don't appreciate it that's fine. No need to rain on people's parade. Just ignore it.

I really enjoyed everything about today and watched most of it early this morning.

This is definitely not your average wedding and will only happen once in a generation.

another well-put post :)

honestly, hates are gonna hate, and I'm getting more tired of people's proclamations on here and FB how much they don't care, when you obviously care enough to spew hatred and distatesful comments about - such a load of bull crap and hypocricy! As if you all had to pay for that wedding!

I'm not even from here or England, but I understand the underlining significance of a new royal marriage union of this calibre.

I really just can't personally fathom what there is to be remotely interested in, regarding their wedding. I mean, by all means - if you enjoy it, power to you. I'm not going to hate on that. There have certainly been some posts that have shown legitimate reasons why the wedding can be seen as a positive. Re: the heritage and tradition takes, though: my feeling is that traditions - like personalities or any other form of established holdfast, deserve to be held to scrutiny in order for evolution to manifest. Rebellion against these establishments is healthy, and not to be discouraged.

I suppose I just can't help but feel like we're all still just peasants lining the village streets as the lord and lady of the land roll by, beaming up at them - just hoping for a tossed handkerchief.

Ah well, To each his own, I say.

Think about how you felt the first time seeing your favourite DJ of all time......that's what its like for some of these people to see the first son of Lady Di getting married.

PPS- But I am bored enough to aimlessly search through unread threads and also bored enough to type this post AND to let you know how little of a I give.
