A real life fairy tale to give hope and some lustre to a tough few years. Some decent, moral (assuming they both don't start ing around) young people for kids to look up to and a hope that when William is our king, he will increase the positive profile of the Royal Family like his mother started decades ago.

I didn't realise you were all such grumps on here, wait, actually I did.

Although I didn't get up to watch it myself and the lead up to it was what seemed never ending, I totally agree with what you are saying Rach. It is something that will be remembered forever and as the biggest event of this century. It is tradition and history. Plus when William becomes King, it will be nothing but good, I believe.

It was nice to see something good happening in the world, other than all the bad that is going on around us for just a few hours. :)

I care and I LOVED IT.

I loved it too. It's a fairy tale, and who doesn't love a good fairy tale? Normal girl from the country dreams over a prince when she's a teenager and 15 years finds herself marrying in to royalty.

The spirit of the british people has taken a few blows in the last 5-10 years and it was nice to see them so happy about something.

Rach - I'm getting my british citizenship tomorrow! :D

Exactly. Well said Rach.

I didn't get up at 4am to watch it. I woke up at 8am though, just in time to catch the kisses on the balcony of BP. Then I went online to BBC.com and watched all the video clips of everything else I'd missed up until that point. It was a beautiful wedding, and they seem very happy together :) I wish them all the best.

I loved when the old spitfire planes flew over BP. So cool. My dad took my brother and I to many air shows growing up. I've always loved oldschool war planes.

I watched a few tv specials leading up the event as well, about the couple. I find the lives of Royal's very fascinating. Always have.

so did I miss the part where every "normal" girl from the country has rich parents whose wealth allows their children access to most things that us "not normal" city folk are not privy to....or am I just confused on the fairy tale part?

On Friday night, William and Kate and 300 close family and friends partied until the early hours at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the exchange of vows. Prince Harry hosted the disco bash.

In an unexpected move, they travelled to the evening reception with William behind the wheel of his father's dark blue sports car, an Aston Martin DB6, decorated with balloons and a rear number plate that read "JU5T WED."

Awesome.

Her parents worked for an airline, then started their own business. Unless I am missing something, working for an airline never made anyone rich.

they're fairly well off since they contributed 1 mil to the wedding but I think they worked on the wealth from scratch which is very admirable :)

I heard a report saying Kate was "upper middle class"... lol in our terms that means at minimum millionaire...

I mean , after she graduated from school she had a flat in Chelsea (one of the most expensive residentials in the world)...

(so yeah I think the "country girl" thing is a bit of a stretch, but I still love her)

The Middletons are very rich now. It is true that they worked at flight attendants but they started a big party supply business and are way loaded. Obviously, since they were able to send their kids to the most exclusive private schools where they get to hang out with royalty.

The company is Party Pieces.

As for the wedding, I have watched it 3 times already. Different channels to pick up different tidbits. I was amazed at how good she looked, I was amazed at how beautiful everything was. It wasn't as over the top as I thought it would be. They kissed TWICE on the balcony. Now I want to know more details about the after wedding luncheon and the disco!

Too bad it was a dry wedding.
